Does anyone know if @Will Prowse has any recommendations for personal solar battery banks...the kind that you might take on a hike?
I am looking for a good one.

Thank you.

Ian

I Dont know about Will, but I have a RavPower 100Wh bank (non solar) that I swear by.
Charges/discharges with USBC PD and has a couple of USBA ports too.

I am wondering about items like this:

it all depends what you want to do with.
powering a smarphone.
a smartphone and some light
a smartphone and a laptop (about 65W)
more ? camera video, radio ....

the solar panel on the link you gave is a joke, mostly useless. They do not even provide specs about the solar power
Serious foldable panel

the problem is this model provide no battery or controller.
you probably want an all-in-on with several 5V usb output.
most device you take for hiking usually require 5V charging (phones, GPS, bluetooth loudspeaker, led lights, camera)
could be a problem with laptop

also the panel needs to be steady sunbathing for a few hours, not compatible with hiking in forrest.

most solar battery bank (panel sized from shape of battery bank) are a joke.
5V 10A is 50W, so look at the size of a 50W solar panel and compare.
so battery claiming 25A on 5V are 125W.
120w solar panel example

if you go only a few days, forget about the solar, just take 2 25A battery.

Solar Addict, thank you for your input.
After watching this I realize that solar on the trail might not be the best.

Probably the best would be the rav power quick chargers.

it depends on how many days. while I do have smaller 7w chargers (goal zero), I would not carry it unless it is a multi day event. They were, and still are, one of the few with AA battery charging, and a 12v output.
With hiking, there is no guarantee that you are in an area with good sunlight. It might work great for Arizona, but out east, we have extensive forest cover. even when producing energy, it will be highly interrupted.

Actually they do and they rate each panel at 1.5 watts for a total of 7.5 watts. Of course the panels you linked to are much better.

Specifications:
Material:ABS++TPU+PC and leather
Battery: 25000mAh Li-polymer battery
Solar Panel Input: 5.5V/330mA
Micro USB / Type-C Input: 5V/2.1A
Qi Wireless Output: 5V/1.2A 5W
USB Output: 5V/2.1A
Product Dimension: 6.2*3.33*0.98inch
Weight: 17.64oz (Solar panels included)

Assuming the specs are correct it's not a bad deal although the panels are weak. They claim the battery is 100 watts. So realistically it would probably take 20 hours to fully charge the battery in full sunlight. I don't think I would want to wait that long...lol.
