Has anyone made a full solar generator out of a UPS system?

Seems like an inexpensive back up

It will work. The main concern is continuous load. UPS typical rated 20mins time when running at full load. For example, if the UPS rated 1000VA, the wattage could be like 800W rated in real world usage for 20 mins. Plus the transformer and MOSFETs might not be able to power the device due to over-heating. So, for a 1000VA UPS, I would said 400W usage to be safe if you want to run it for a longer duration. You would also need a seperate charger to charge battery if is not AGM/Lead Acid type battery. The UPS charger is extremely slow. Of course, do not plug in the original AC input of the UPS, it will confuse the charging circuits. Good luck.

Yes, and using my 48V golf cart as the battery bank with the UPS back-feeding my breaker panel. Just make sure the UPS is rated for continuous duty. Typically will have an external battery connection for extended runtime. This is what I bought.
