I have two AmpereTime batteries that are rated at 200AH wired in parallel in my system. I want to make my own battery, but the cells will give me either 230AH or 280AH.

What happens if you add a 280AH battery in parallel into a system that already has two 200AH batteries. Will it basically give me 680AH of service, or is it not recomended?

No major problems will occur. Because of the parallel connection, you ensure that the voltage of your battery pack is the same, which allows your battery pack to operate normally, but generally speaking, if you want to mix batteries, it is still better to use batteries of similar capacity.

It should not be a problem as I have a 180 amp hour lipo and a 280 amp hr connected for about a year now.
The difference in resistance in batteries causes them to pull different currants.
Even connecting them at different states of charge is fine. There is a surge currant at first them goes down.

It's best to avoid this with LiFePO₄. Charge all batteries to 100% before connecting in parallel.

There are many existing threads about putting different capacity LiFePO₄ batteries in parallel. Please scan through the following for lots of good info:

Hello, I have been searching the forums but I can't see where anyone has addressed my particular issue. From the commercially available battery packs from companies such as EG4, SOK, and many other brands, I was advised that you cannot mix a 10 kW unit with a 5 kW unit. If you start off with a 10 kW unit and you wish to expand your capacity, you have to purchase another 10 kW unit, you can't just add a 5 kW unit. I've consulted several local installers and they're pretty much saying that it can't be done. Something about the units won't communicate properly. Can anyone expand on this?

Send a message to this company, they have been very responsive to me: https://tycorun.en.alibaba.com/

They sell both 200Ah and 100Ah server batteries, so they should be able to tell you if they work together.

If you have WhatsApp, I can pass along your number.
