GSL 8k non DEYE installation help! (Megarevo??)

Hi Reecie 15, Not sure your going to like it's off grid function. The Megarevo is a grid tied inverter and when it operated in off grid mode, it shuts down for about a minute trying to do a PV isolation test at exactly 5:30 am. There is no option to disable it as of yet. When grid is present, it instantly switches over to grid to do the test which takes exactly 5 minutes, when complete, it instantly switches back to battery use. You would not notice it's doing the test, unless you have a energy monitor on the grid side. This is what i have observe, pretty sure it happening to all.

ARM: V1.03.06
DSP: C1.04.06

latest, nope it did not fix it. They are under the impression that this is normal. I have been hounding them about a fix. Explaining to them that no one wants an inverter that shuts down, because it is off grid. Let's hope they listen.

Can you provide who you are contacting? Maybe enough people email it would be fixed

It is with a Sales person at Megarevo via Wechat who then relays it to i guest the support group. But it is very difficult with time and language barriers. But something is something.

Hi MNRosado, I have not connected it yet. just powered it up with a battery to look at the user interface. this is not user friendly. Apart from the PV isolation test is there any other issues or problems?

I haven’t had a single issue with mine being grid connected

One more annoying issue, is it's slow switching when in grid-tired mode. When the grid has a hiccup, the inverter switches to ESP (UPS) mode and its not fast enough, so i lose internet and other electronics in the home, such as the DVR. Slvrsky07, most of the issues occur when the grid fails. When in Grid tied mode a there is no power failure it's a charm take the grid away and it forgets it has a brain.

That would not be an issue for me, but I am not sure I understand the 5:30am PV Isolation test. Since I am off grid what should I expect to happen at 5:30am? A full black out for 5 minutes everyday?

What i have observed is that when it does the PV isolation test, it switches to grid for exactly 5 minutes and it switches very fast so you would not notice the testing. I have a energy monitor on the grid so this is what i observe. Now when you are off grid, The inverter searches for grid, turns off the load, does not find the grid and comes back up. It does all this in less then a minute. You can clock it to see exactly how long it takes.

Hi MNRosado, I would like you to do me a favor. I reached out to a supplier in China about the pv isolation test issue, and she sent me a video. Could you please look at it and tell me if it works? I still don't have the time to install my inverter.

I have toggled that setting in the past, but wasn't sure what it did. I will see if I have it disabled, and report back tomorrow morning.

I wish there was actual documentation to the rest of those settings too.

Would you please also ask them when they will be adding generator 2 wire start support?

And the smart load settings for Load 2 connection. Or to put different way the ability to program the output to turn on and off based on different parameters or SOC of battery.

Thanks for the video. I disabled the leak detector and also will report if it makes changes.

hi Slvrsky07, I am sorry but I don't know exactly what you mean. When I speak with my Chinese friends I have to understand fully what I need to say that they will understand our requirements. Explain it to me please. What generator start option do they currently have? Please bear with me I have not even had the chance to hook up the inverter.

tell you what whatever questions you guys have, I can't promise anything, but tabulate and let me reach out to them in one message

Most generators will start remotely with a two wire system. The inverter was suppose to have this option with firmware upgrade. I think there is the hook ups for it, just that it is not enabled with new firmware. Actually currently there is no programming for such function. There is however an input connection for a generator. Just need the Megarevo to remotely start the generator when it is called for via programming and/or settings.

If you would, report back that the disabling the "Leak detector" did not solve the issue of the unit going into the 5 minute test mode every morning.

Hi jsmetalcraft. This the reply that I got, with the following attachment : off grid use----SELF CONSUME
We are still debugging the generator. It is still unstable. After we debug OK, we will upgrade the inverter firmware. The information you need will be shared at that time. Thanks!

I will have to try that once I get my batteries hooked up. I found out the Jackiper batteries have a relay contact built in with a programmable SOC alarm for it, so I will just use that to start the generator. I hope the 5 min self test is resolved soon.

At least they admit to bugs. They need to work on all the bugs or rewrite the firmware from the start. The latest is a nightmare compared to earlier versions.

For example tonight at dark with 250 watts I get a bus over voltage warning. I did get a full battery charge but had to reduce the charge amps from 125 to 65 to get a stable charge period. This all started with the new firmware.

It seems to be resolved if you follow the video but ensure that the Work mode is "self consume"
