Inverters with MPPT charges question...

OK so pretty new to solar so forgive my ignorance, but my Growatt 1500 TLX has a MPPT charger, so if I was to connect a battery, would the excess PV generation after the load charge the battery? If so, what do you do with the battery??? Will the inverter use the battery energy to power the load for a limited time??? Or can I use a second inverter that's also connected to the battery to power some devices??

Does it allow connection to a battery? Many grid-tie only don't, or they require a proprietary solution.
