can anyone please help out with a photo of the RS485 communication cable sold by signature solar for their eg4 battery...... this cable in particular...

I have a ton load of cat cable and crimping tools and what not and would just want to make my own.

I just need a photo of the 2 ends to see what wire goes where. thanks

The cable in the picture is wired to T568B. At least the end you can see. Most likely the other end is also.

RS485 needs only 2 wires (separate ground is optional I believe)...

This is right out of the EG4 battery manual (Pin 7 & 8):

What inverter? Just have to look at the inverter manual as well to see their pins...

Here's an example showing pins on an EG4 6500EX (Pins 3 & 5):

These manufacturers all agree on the meaning of the standard, and their practice is in widespread use. The issue also exists in programmable logic controller applications.[c] Care must be taken when using A/B naming. Alternate nomenclature is often used to avoid confusion surrounding the A/B naming:

  • TX+/RX+ or D+ as alternative for B (high for mark i.e. idle)
  • TX−/RX− or D− as alternative for A (low for mark i.e. idle)
RS-485 standard conformant drivers provide a differential output of a minimum 1.5 V across a 54-Ω load, whereas standard conformant receivers detect a differential input down to 200 mV. The two values provide a sufficient margin for a reliable data transmission even under severe signal degradation across the cable and connectors. This robustness is the main reason why RS-485 is well suited for long-distance networking in noisy environment.[28]

I have the inverter to battery set up the communication looks like its for inverter and battery what I need is battery to battery jumper. I have the ex6500 inverter and eg4 lifepower4 batteries.

Well that should be just a regular straight (not crossover) Ethernet cable, since all those ports will have the same pinout I would presume, since they are the same battery model number.

I called signature solar and they said its a straight through cable. (Don't quote me on that). I will make one and if it works great, if not it's back to the drawing bord
