Hi all, I have a Siemens 200A breaker inset into the exterior wall opposite a bedroom as shown in the picture. I'm planning on doing a grid tie-in, and am wondering what the ideal placement for the inverter and AC disconnect would be. My initial thought would be placing the inverter and AC disconnect outdoors next to the main breaker panel, and run wiring through the air duct, but have read this violates NEC. Since I imagine it would be difficult to access the breaker from outdoors otherwise, would it be wise to put the AC disconnect and solar panel inverter opposite the main breaker panel indoors and run wiring behind drywall?

I've settled on putting the AC disconnect and inverter outside next to the breaker panel and come in through the bottom of the breaker panel. I saw a video where someone did something similar:

If you are going to be grid-tied, have you contacted your power company for their requirements? My power company says I'm required to have an AC disconnect switch outside my house, next to my power meter. This has to be a blade switch, lockable handle, with visible gap, and has to be wired in so that it is between my inverter and the meter. It needs to be clearly marked also. They said it was for firemen to quickly disconnect All AC from my house. I had to actually DRAG this info out of the power company rep, after he misled me for several days. Without having called a local solar install company to get clarification, I might still be looking to buy /install the wrong thing. Had I done so, I would not get PTO. Definitely get their information straight from the company, and then make sure there aren't any misunderstandings.

Do you need an electrician to sign off on your installation? I want to diy my solaredge and am planning to put the ac disconnect outdoors as required, but I want to know if inspector will sign off on a diy job?
