I don't necessarily disagree, but there's something to be said for 12V systems and the fact that you can find components (inverters, charge controllers) a lot cheaper & more readily available (locally) than anything 48VOther than powering a shack or other primitive structure, I'm not sure why anyone would consider anything but a 48 volt system.
aren’t ebikes 48vdc? Seems like they are cheap if bought via Aliexpress.I don't necessarily disagree, but there's something to be said for 12V systems and the fact that you can find components (inverters, charge controllers) a lot cheaper & more readily available (locally) than anything 48V
Some of it's magic and some of it's tragic, but I had a good life anyway.went to Paris?
nah... Paris is way too big of a city. I think they have like 25k people now. Small town living for me, thanks!went to Paris?
To power 12V infrastructure in an RV or other low demand installations.Other than powering a shack or other primitive structure, I'm not sure why anyone would consider anything but a 48 volt system.
The only reason I went from 12 to 24v was to get a 240v split phase inverter capable of running my mini split. That is one reason why people don’t use 48V systems: they don’t need that.
Maybe I missed something before, but you have installed 12vdc wallwarts in your house? I have no grid in my 600 sqft house I am building now, but 2 grey day will be a problem I think. Neighbours do have 2400 Wattpeak panels and are harvesting 150 Watts a grey day. They have 4.8 Kw batteries but they will not fill. Lot of sun in Texel/Netherlands in spring, summer, autumn, but december/januari is a problem. To power 12V infrastructure in an RV or other low demand installations.
But whatever is safe and works dependably is what one should do. In my case a 1000W AIO is usually sufficient day to day and I have a 2000W inverter that meets all my household needs.
Nevertheless I use 12V lighting, furnace power, phone charger, etc and that is way less than 2000W; 48V offers no advantage in my situation.
That is one reason why people don’t use 48V systems: they don’t need that.

I guess you could think of them like that.but you have installed 12vdc wallwarts in your house? I have no grid in my 600 sqft house I am building now
Here in northern Vermont is bad, too, this time of year.Lot of sun in Texel/Netherlands in spring, summer, autumn, but december/januari is a problem.
too few posts like these. No hands-on slow YT explanatory videos?I guess you could think of them like that.
But not walwarts: 12VDC USB chargers meant for automotive use.
Below is a photo of one just “hanging out” because I’ve got some foam board insulation I’m adding and a (in marine terms) a bulkhead to install next to the refrigerator - so it’s just hanging temporarily- I’m relocating the BlueSea fusebox and I’m not done that because I’ve temporarily hid on myself the bag with the SAE flush outlets I was going to install ?View attachment 126284
SAE “outlet” below. They mount flush as well. Little use for them but having 3 or 4 12V outlets is inexpensive and easy, and by installing three of them Murphy’s Laws will insure I don’t wish for them later. They are 10ga copper pigtails so theoretically 30A max although I’ll probably fuse at 10-15A.
Being that each is assembled with a load-side plug on the pigtails I’ll have connectors should I need them.
I don’t have any ciggy-socket outlets but at this point the only device I have that needs one is a handheld marine VHF. I’ll probably put one in on the charge controller wall for Justine. Justine Case. View attachment 126286
