Hi everyone, new on here so a brief background. Live in north east uk off grid since 1996, most of that time with a simple system of gen/inverter/lead acid batteries, started with trojans then rolls batteries. Few years ago started getting into Solar and now have 4.5kwpv , 2 epever tracer 100amp mppt, outback vfx3024 inverter, 2 parallel 24v lifpo4 280ah battery banks . phew
In the winter months I get very little solar energy so have long gen run times. Inverter charges at 80amps but gen can put out way more !
I have a variable output 30 volt 60amp power supply which I have used to help top balance my battery when building.
so….when the inverter is charging at 80amps can I also connect my other charger to the pos/neg busbars on my system to add ..say..another 30amps ?My plan would be to use an outlet for the power supply that only goes live when the gen is running. Or will the 80amps already put out by the inverter fry it somehow ?
I could just try it but don’t want to smoke it for dumbs sake !
I can use another outback inverter to double my charge amps but it’s a lot of money just to use the charger in it. I don’t need any more power.
Hopefully you’ll understand where I’m coming from with this, I want to add more Lifepo4 too so more charging ability is a must.

As long as you are within specs (max charging current) on the battery, it should be fine.

I don't know that I'd want to use an adjustable power supply. Sounds like a bench power supply; those aren't ideal for the situation in my opinion. I'd almost rather get a dedicated 24v charger or inexpensive all in one and just use the AC charger when needed.
