Thank you for allowing me to join the group!

We are buying a house soon and it has an inground pool. My thought was to find something in the solar area to install a heater so that my wife can still use the pool during the winter. Is this even possible?

I'll bite. Heating water is an extremely power hungry endeavor. Add to it that you are heating a large cu ft area of uninsulated water in winter makes it daunting to me.

What do you mean by winter in your location?

How much power in watts at watt voltage is your pool heater?

You need to know how many watts at what voltage your pool heater requires to figure out how many watts of solar panels plus other hardware is required to meet the pool heater watts required. Read the pool heater label or look it up online.

I would be surprised if solar would be cost effective for winter heating as in my winter, there are few sun hours, many cloudy days where panels only produce 5-10% of rated watts, it's cold, etc.

Also, you could change the thread topic to be more relevant, as "Hello Everyone" does nothing to help other users search the forums for "winter swimming pool solar heating".

Plus, you could try a search yourself as pool heating has been discussed before and you may get some applicable info?

Thank you for the reply E. Cho.

Once I figure out how to rename the Title I will. ;)

Currently we don't have a Pool Heater. So I will be looking for something to install.

We are in the south in Eastern Oklahoma. So while it does get cold here we rarely ever get snow. Its mostly ICE if we get any thing at all.
