How safe are the Chinese dc breakers?

I need a dc disconnect. Current connected sells an IMO type box. Amazon sells dc. Breakers (pic attached). Are they any good? They are a bit cheaper but I’d hate to blow things up. I realize the current connected box is likely made in China, but not all China is equal.

Not even sure how thick a wire these things can take. Descriptions are vague

DC disconnect for what? Batteries or panels? For batteries, I went with MidNite Solar/Carlisle. Square D DC rated disconnects at the panels.

I know that’s not the question, but I am paranoid about magic smoke and conventional smoke.

It’s a disconnect for my array, just before the charge controller

The imo type disconnects have a spring loaded design so when switching off it does it at a fast rate. If you were to slowly trip a DC breaker you could have issues. It seems best practice is an imo disconnect. I went with this dual circuit version from Amazon but who knows how it compares to the "real thing". Other choice would be Midnite solar DC breakers, great reputation, fully rated, maybe in a midnite baby box if you need a metal enclosure.

It’s confusing because that link is clearly a knock off of imo. IMO is made in China. Knock, off in China.

I have no idea who makes the current connected box.

I like Midnite stuff. I don’t need a metal box. I just need a safe dc disconnect.

Those are what I have been using. They work great for my arrays. And I have put them through a lot. With zero issues or failure.

I have these and the only issue I’ve found with them is the terminals. With course stranded wire, thnn 10 awg, the wires can be pulled out. I’ve tried ferrules with the same results. The only thing that works to my satisfaction is to strip back the wire double of normal then fold back bare part in half. Orbit the wire gently as you tighten the terminal screw. Check back and retighten in a few days. Time loosens wire terminals. The only point of failure with these breaker are the terrible terminals and loose connections will destroy the breaker or worse. All the plastic DIN breaker boxes that are sold on Amazon for these can burn with enough heat so use a metal box . I suggest using what the others above have recommended unless you’re diligent about tightening.

What gauge of wire does the IMO discconnect fit? How do people feel about the suntree breakers, are they just rebranded AC breakers?

Why did you choose a breaker over an “IMO” type switch?

Can this breaker accept solid, and stranded wire? What size wire will it accept?

My array to,charge controller wire is dependent on which switch because the imo type switch will not accept solid wire.

The one current connected sells accepts up to 8g and stranded only.

Cost, size, and installation compatibility.

I would recommend stranded, for this type of terminal. But I have had solid #12 connected to them for over a year.
What size wire will it accept?
Without checking the specs. My eyeballs say that #6 stranded will fit in the terminal.

I have around 50 of these in my system, no issues at all. But I have the same brand in 125a breakers for my aio, and batteries, and I have had at least 3 failures in the 30 of these I have.
