    EG4 Heat Pumps?

The 12k Hotspot is like $2000 right?

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

Part of the decision equation can be panel space, roof space. I can’t fault anyone for just going with a system that inverts to all 120 ac then buying a 12kbtu 120VAC minisplit for $700ish delivered off the amazon deathstar. That’s way less of a hit if it craters, vs 1200+ shipping etc. At...

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

Thanks for this real use case info. Very curious how 12k and 24kbtu perform and dc power needs in heat mode as well. Especially cloudy days. I‘m planning on (4) 400w panels for a 12kbtu unit. Maybe 5 panels would be better for winter use but OCD won’t allow me to “uneven”, so oh snap I’d have to...

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

Also definitely true re 8-10+ pillows on the bed like my ex wife and every girlfriend I’ve ever had (except one - should've kept her). Try as I might, I’ll never understand that mountain of pillows in the way thing…

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

I can see that. I’d really prefer not to have even more stuff (believe me, I have plenty!) cluttering things up that I “might” need some day. I’m on a (very slow) mission to reduce clutter and “stuff”. It’s challenging. Sometimes less is more.

Ok makes sense for your use case.

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

Why would you have to use them more times than you can think of? I mean, unless you are adding on more AC units or having problems with existing AC units… Most AC systems I’ve been around have been pretty much trouble free other than changing the return air filter and cleaning the coils. Though...

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

Hey, I put it out there for the quick connects a couple of months back… and lo and behold now I hear they’re coming soon. So time to snap to it on my other list of demands ! ?

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

That is great news. Will there be any choices for hose length? Like 12ft, 14ft, 16ft, 20ft. Any plans for dual head 24kbtu units in the future? And 36k dual and tri head units beyond that. I’m looking at cooling a 2 story with 2 larger units, vs 5 or 6 smaller units which would be a non starter.

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

You do realize you’ll also need a vacuum pump etc, right? It’s not just tightening fittings (until the quick connect models are shipping). See Will’s review.

    250% more Efficient Solar Cells?

That’s the Spirit! ? Imagine 18 (past efficiency) is a benchmark, or 100%. Now calculate what 21 (current efficiency) is to 18. That’s nearly a 16.7% improvement in efficiency. using 17 as past efficiency, 21 is a 23.5% improvement. using 16 as past efficiency, 21 is a 31.25% improvement using...

    250% more Efficient Solar Cells?

Yes, admittedly I’m optimistic about solar technology, and everything related to it, like battery tech. Imagine possible progress 10 yrs from now, I’m hoping we’ll see well over the 18-21% efficiency common today. 30% would be huge. Time will tell… I think What were pv efficiencies 10, 20...

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

Thanks for that info. I’m glad to hear it’s a Panasonic compressor and not some company like Vevor or dljbrti like some of the Chinese battery manufacturer / marketer names. So if they are DC motors, if grid connected is the unit then converting AC power to DC power when solar supply isn’t...

    EG4 Heat Pumps?

Happy to read quick connects are on the way! Will there be choices for line length? Any dual or tri head units in the works? (24kbtu / 36kbtu) Also wondering do these EG4 units have an actual inverter compressor, or a standard ac voltage unit with an inverter added?

Is it possible to overclock a victron 75-15 solar controller?

So I’m thinking the Victron 100/30 would be a better choice? Or other charge controller that can handle over 20A, just in case extreme ideal conditions somehow occur.

SFK Sun Fun Kits 300ah Battery Review

Re 127F In what ambient temp? And I agree not good for cells is probably right. I’m thinking the 1500w continuous rating may be limited by design due to the small case, to reduce the chance of overheating? Most 300ah batteries being in a considerably bigger case.

SFK Sun Fun Kits 300ah Battery Review

I do remember that video and skipped through it again, yeah it got 150f in some areas but that was pretty extreme duty… and it didn’t fail. I wouldn’t want to subject a battery that size (both form and AH) to that amp draw regularly.
