    My Off Grid Cabin System

We did indeed. We now have about a 120 degree opening. Would love more, but it still gives us a solid 4 hours of unblocked sunlight.

    My Off Grid Cabin System

Upgraded our system! *New Battery: CHINS 12v 200ah Lithium with built-in heater *Giandel 1500w Pure Sine Wave Inverter Issue now is I am under-paneled and also will need to upgrade from the Rover Elite 20. Advice on the best panel/charge controller upgrade? I've already ordered another 100w...

    Switching to Lithium - Recommendations?

I ended up choosing the CHINS 12v 200ah LiFePO4 with built-in heater. I now need to add another panel, as my (3) 100w Renogy panels aren't enough to get this battery up to a full charge. Most likely going to go 2S2P with these, sending 24v to my Renogy Rover Elite.

    Switching to Lithium - Recommendations?

Finally made the decision to upgrade to lithium for our off grid cabin. The AGM's we have are now 3 years old. Still working great, but we decided to increase our capacity and switch to heated lithium (Off Grid cabin in Wisconsin. Get's below freezing during hunting season and when we want to...

    Flat roof mount ideas

Any photos? Looking to do the same for my house. Need to #1 get them off the house a little to let them breath and #2 need to build in an angle for optimum panel angle.

    Rack feedback

Looking to build something very similar to this for my house roof. Doing 1 roof that already is good angle, but another roof is a little flat, so I will build in an angle. Any info on how to create stand-offs to get them a few inches away from the roof?

    Questionable brands?

I purchased and designed my system for 48v, but the MPP 3048 has been on a boat off of California forever. I think I'm going to have to go with the 24v system. I have (4) CHINS 12v 100ah batteries that I was going to make a 48v bank with, but I can just go 2s2p to make a 24v system instead. Got...

CHINS batteries have arrived - CHECK PANELS have arrived from SanTan - CHECK Now I've been waiting forever for the MPP Solar all-In-One to show up. Can't wait anymore. Seems like everyone's opinions have changed constantly on Growatt, PowMr, etc... Anyone have any opinions as of late? Looking...

    (4) 12v wired in Series for 48v Bank

Cabin's system has been up and running for over a year. Much smaller system than this, but it gives us enough to survive off grid. This system I'm building is for a back-up system at home.

    (4) 12v wired in Series for 48v Bank

Just ordered these. Thanks for the reference. I have heat-shrink to cover between terminals. Are those plastic covers you have over them as well?

Home System - Getting It Started

OK...Getting ready to order the rest of my components. I've decided to switch from the PowMr to the MMP Solar 3048. I've attached the latest and greatest updated schematic. Questions: * Do I need a combiner box to connect the 2 strings of panels? If so, any recommendations? * Recommendations...

Propane Tankless water heater for tiny house?

We do not have the shower operational, and this is a seasonal cabin, so our usage will probably not be of help to you. For washing dishes etc, we didn't even use half of a 20lb last summer.

Propane Tankless water heater for tiny house?

This set-up looks very similar to mine. Probably the same DC water pump as well. I added a 5 gallon pressure tank to keep the pump from running every time I open the faucet.

Do you need to balance Lifepo4 batteries in series?

Thanks. It is indeed a smart charger as well, so it will shut off. I'll have to see what the settings are. It's a Viking 2/8/15a charger.

Do you need to balance Lifepo4 batteries in series?

Any suggestions for a simple charger to accomplish this? My current charger only handles FLA, FLA and AGM, not lithium. Thread searches seem to be a little overwhelming.

Propane Tankless water heater for tiny house?

We have a smaller Camplux model (1.32 gpm) but it has worked flawlessly for our cabin. Hooking up the shower this upcoming season, but piping hot water for the kitchen. They make larger models...

Do you need to balance Lifepo4 batteries in series?

Glad I found this thread. Just bought (4) CHINS 12v100ah LifePO4 I plan to wire them in series to get 48v, but I need to balance them. Better off wiring them in parallel first and charging them together or just getting the balancer and hooking them up to the SCC?

DIY Indoor Compost Toilet for Cabin

Youtube is an amazing thing. Anyone can do anything if you can just take time and research. I am lucky enough to be handy and have the tools needed, but this thing took me maybe 2 hours of actual work to build. When I have the bathroom finished, I'm going to post a walk-around video showing our...

    (4) 12v wired in Series for 48v Bank

No apologies necessary. This is exactly what these types of threads are for. Watching this conversation may help me avoid pitfalls etc... I am watching intently. I had a similar situation with my AGM bank at the cabin. Had to reconfigure the setup to get them balanced better.

Exactly what I'm looking for. This is nice and clean. Was thinking on going with bus bars where possible as well. Are these CHINS or Ampheres? What did you use for bus bars?

I know how to wire these up to make them a 48v volt bank. (4) CHINS Lithium 12v 100ah batteries (Photo Attached) Just looking for photos of anyone/everyone else's similar style bank. I can stack them on their side or just leave them as is. I plan on using 2/0 cables. Anyone want to post a...

CHINS are showing up today. What are everyone's feelings on the best way to series connect? Just trying to decide between using bus bars or 2awg like I did for my cabin build.

    Different capacity batteries in parallel?

I can't speak for LifeP04, but my AGM battery bank is a Frankenstein of sorts (photo attached). I've got (1) 100ah and (3) 35ah batteries in series. It struggled at first but I initially had the connections to the charger and inverter coming from the same battery. After feedback on this forum, I...

Blueprints for backup battery power at home

I think he's asking if (2) 24v in series for 48v would be better than (4) 12v in series for 48v. I would think (2) 24v in series for 48v would be better, even though I'm going the other route strictly for financial reasons. I just couldn't turn down (4) 12v 100ah lithiums for $300 each.

I haven't even received the PowMr yet, but I've received a lot of positive input on that unit. I was going to go with a Growatt, but the PowMr version is $250 cheaper. I will pm you the website, because I'm not sure the link will be welcome here not being an endorsed product. I have heard mostly...
