    Charging rate when full?

Bms smart shunt tracking ah and state of charge via voltage. Appears that my voltage levels are a bit off the real % charge and my cells are probably closer to 300ah capacity instead of 290. Seems like it's working as normal, thanks

    Charging rate when full?

I have 8, 290ah Eve lifep04 cells in a 24v pack with a jbd bms. I use a mpp solar 24lv unit with 1200 watts of solar. I changed my charge controller settings to 27.4 float and cv as it was limiting my solar input. I went from 400 watts to 900 watts when charging. however, my batteries are...

Will I lose power wiring this way?

I have 4 panels, 305 watts each. Wired 2s2p. They are on the roof which is at different angles /-\ . I also installed a tilt system on one side. This means each row of 2 will put out different voltages. I have the rows wired to together for 70-100 volts, and then those 2 lines go into a...

    Top Balanced Needed?

I bought 8 grade 8 cells from Amy. They all tested at the same voltage when they arrived. Since they are matched and at the same state of charge, do I need to do a top balance charge each cell?

Crazy low prices on Aliexpress LifePO4 320A, with buyer protection?

What carrier is the tracking? You need to contact them to confirm that the package was addressed and sent to you. Then try to get them to pull the GPS log of the delivery to see where it was signed at. If all of that checks out, ask for the total weight of the shipment as 8 cells will weigh a...

Is there a thread that is about current LiFePO4 pricing & recommended suppliers

The unfortunate thing about a lot of chinese resellers if they will start off on the straight and narrow. The cells will be genuine grade A. But then they will start to slip once a customer base is established. They will send a batch of grade B or A- and hope no one notices. I know there is...

    2 inverts 1 line

I want to use a 300 watt inverter for my fridge that will be on 24/7. And cycle the 2400 watt inverter so it doesn't waste 50w/hr idling. I'll probably just install 2 switches. That way I can turn one inverter off before turning the other one on.

    2 inverts 1 line

I'm pretty sure there's no issue hooking up multiple inverters to a battery. But yeah I was asking 2 inverters of different sizes running on the same A/C line. Sounds like I will have to turn the smaller inverter off first, or just put them on seperate lines.

    2 inverts 1 line

Can I have 1, 120v ac line that is connected to two inverters. I want to run a 300watt inverter all the time, and cycle on a 2400 watt inverter as needed. Do I have to turn the 300 watt off, or can both be running at the same time?

What 280's do I buy from Amy?

TLDR: Us diy'ers are riding the coat tails of power grid storage
  16. B

What 280's do I buy from Amy?

They are both the same technology. But making lead acid batteries is easy peasy, for example like a tortilla. Making a lithium battery is like making a croissant. A lithium has tons of layers and if you mess anything up it ruins the whole thing
  17. B

What 280's do I buy from Amy?

Amy buys direct from the factory. The factory will produce batteries, then they match them so that all of the internal characteristics are a perfect match. So when you buy 16, 280ah batteries, each one acts exactly the same throughout the entire voltage discharge curve. That means you get the...

Compress or Not Compress Bloated Cells?

Op likely got grade b cells that were rejected. Those cells swell beyond the allowed amount. Compress good, grade a cells that haven't swollen I wouldn't compress swollen cells as you can't undo that damage
  19. B

Compress or Not Compress Bloated Cells?

If they are already swollen, compressing them is not a good idea. Compressing them can cause an internal short. Use some flexible bus bars and leave them lightly wrapped with tape or something stretchy.

    The secret to compression

Doesn't EVE test 1 cell with this machine? I would think that 1 cell in a hydraulic machine with a flat clamping face would have a pretty consistent pressure across the face. Or at least along the parts that are in contact. I remember the report saying over compression is worse than no...

At what C rate at 3.6v/cell was a lifepo4 battery considered full again?

3.6 is like 90-95% full. It takes a while to get that last few % as a good charger will drop into float mode and will put out a few amps while it tapers down.

    The secret to compression

There was an eve testing graph that showed you could get up to 12-14k cycles with around 11-13 psi. I don't have the link handy but it was posted in one of the compression mega threads
  25. B

    The secret to compression

Thats what I'm thinking of doing too. Over compression is bad. So even if the foam gives and doesn't provide a solid wall, it will provide a scaleable PSI. EG it starts are 11 @ 50% charge. Gets up to 18 psi at full charge and drops down to a few psi when discharged. Seems good enough
  26. B

    The secret to compression

That's true, but the cells don't expand that much and I doubt the compression would get beyond 15-18 psi (which is the higher end of the recommended compression)
  27. B

    The secret to compression

I thought the point of a hydraulic controlled mechanism was to keep constant pressure as the cells expand. It keeps a constant 11 psi just like a piece of foam would. Using a rigid system torqued to 11 psi will lead to more pressure as the cells try to expand. I'm not a mechanical engineer but...

    The secret to compression

Most prebuilt packs are sold with a 2000 cycle life after which it will have 80% capacity. Without compression you can get 2k cycles. With compression you can get 6k-14k

Is there a thread that is about current LiFePO4 pricing & recommended suppliers

Unfortunately it is that simple. If you want genuine, grade A cells from the factory, you buy through Amy or Luyuan Tech. If you want genuine cells at a discount, you buy through Michael via a group buy. Anything else is pure speculation. You might buy from vendor DCX, those cells turn out...

MPP Owners - What Is Your Idle Power Consumption?

Wow that seems really bad to me, but that is a huge cabin sized one. 12 watts idle I can handle. 25 watts too. It just sucks to lose 12-24 amp hours while the thing idles over night.
