PZEM-015 Battery Monitor - Capacity Ah left in battery

Does anyone know of a Columb counter preferably with wifi that can reset to 100% at a set pack or cell voltage ? The problem being columb counters drift upwards due to the bms doing its active balancing of cells.

PZEM-015 Battery Monitor - Capacity Ah left in battery

I recall when back when I bough a Lithium battery that it came with one of these PZEM-015 battery monitors, if my memory serves me right the "Capacity Ah" went up when charging and down when dis-charging thus giving an indication of the number of Ah left in the battery. The battery monitor...

No PV Voltage show by Invert, but battery is being charged

Had an off-grid system for several years now with no connection to the grid. As of 10th January the inverter ( a Sorotec REVO VM II ) no longer shows the PV Voltage / Amps / Input on its display yet it continues to charge the battery although to a lesser extent about 60% of normal. The PV...

Multiple MPPT Solar Charge Controllers to the same battery bank

I am aware that multiple Victron MPPT solar charge controlleres can be connected ( in parallel ) to the same battery bank. I approached a budget manufacturer POWMr and asked them if multiples of their MPPT charge controllers can be connected to the same battery bank and they replied "Parallel...

inverter mppt charger appears to have over-charged battery

I have 2x 48v 10kw lifpo4 batteries, coming back from 2 months away, I found that all of the cells from one of the batteris have swollen and not by a little bit. Looking at the logs it appears the mppt charger at one stage was charging 62v and then died, why the BMS did not intervene ? I have...

    Adding batteries to existing installation

I have a 48v 10kw LiFePo4 battery, I want to add another 20kw, am I better to add 2x 10kw batteries or am I ok to add 1x 20kw battery ? The reason I ask is that manufacturers move on in producing larger battery cells, I bought these 200ah cells a year a go and now they say they don't sell them...

    Passive Balancer + Shunt Monitor

I am finding that the passive balancer in the BMS is draining of overly charged cells, and this cell drainage is not being fed back into the shunt, therefore the shut gives every increasing battery amp hours with each charge. Anyone else come across this, any workaround ?

40kWh battery bank - batteries in parallel

My boats DC electrical is 24V nominal and I'm planning to install a 40kWh battery bank. The battery supplier ( China black box with built in BMS ) has dis-couraged me from connecting any more than 2 batteries in parallel. I have been using their batteries ( 2 in parallel ) for years in my land...

    String sizing

My boat is a salvaged boat, it had sank, all the electrics has to be replaced, and I paid cash. I hadn't considered approaching a surveyor but I do agree that would be the first step if I were going to insure the boat which as yet I am undecided. Currently I am considering soley the safety...

    String sizing

It makes the installation easier to use High DC voltage strings..... An example where shading is less of an issue, however the installation is still to avoid strings of high voltage dc and parallel panels to several mppts.

    String sizing

I've installed my off-grid home solar system using strings upto 450VDC. My next project to is to install a solar system on my catamaran, however I am meeting some resistance ( forgive the pun ) regarding the use of strings and high voltage DC on a boat.... apparantely on boats they opt to...

    Shaded Panels - Catamaran Boom

Follow two layouts for solar panels, I have attempted to demonstrate the shading when the boom is on the left and when the boom is on the right side. I am uncertain of the best possible configuration in terms of strings and parallel. I have 4 mppt charge controllers, more can be add more if...

    Inverters 24V or 48V

At homei is off-grid and I use 48V inverters, but my boat, which sank and I am refurbishing is all 24V as standard. The existing winches, windlass, tenderlift are all high draw items ( 250amps @ 24V ) so it would be difficult to find suitable 48V replacements for these..... so I am faced wtih...

    Inverters 24V or 48V

well I already have the 48V inverters spare as I use 48V at home, using 24V means twice the number of inverters and twice the amount of space, and twice the number of batteries. one options was to put a small 24V battery and a charger off the 48V battery, however maybe it is just better just go...

Inverter different voltage to windlass / winches

The boat will use a 48V battery to power the Inverter, however the Winches & Windlass operate on 24V, so I can see 2 possible solutions : 1. install a 24V battery and a 48V battery 2. install a 48V battery and 48V-24V step-down DC-DC converter I am uncertain which way to go and welcome...

Blowing inverters when run off generator - EASUN iSolar SMR II Inverter 5.5KW ( REVO-WM II 5.5KW )

Is a single 25A AC Breaker all that is needed to protect an inverter from a dirty generator ? I assume it will take care of an amp surge, but what about a voltage surge ? I would welcome more comments relating to how to protect the inverter from a dirty generator... Thank you.

Blowing inverters when run off generator - EASUN iSolar SMR II Inverter 5.5KW ( REVO-WM II 5.5KW )

yes, I can see the MOS's that have blown, and already have purchased replacements, also I have purchased a desoldering sucktion gun but still I cannot desolder the MOS's... the gun sucks up the solder from the join but the MOSs still won't budge.

Blowing inverters when run off generator - EASUN iSolar SMR II Inverter 5.5KW ( REVO-WM II 5.5KW )

I set the AC charge current to 80A, the generator is 6KW ( 6000 /48 = 125 ) so I thought well within tolerance, but in hindsight this maybe the reason as to why it blew the inverter. Attempts #1 and #2 it ran 1 to 5 mins, attempt #3 it ran for 40 minutes It fluctuates wildly from 200V to 260V...

Blowing inverters when run off generator - EASUN iSolar SMR II Inverter 5.5KW ( REVO-WM II 5.5KW )

maybe then the problem is two-fold 1. The inverter does not cope with an unstable generator supply. 2. The generator is not an inverter-generator.
