    Ryobi 18V pack repair

I would at least want a low cut off. It’s likely at one point I would drain the cells and if not to protect the cells, protect certain tools. I need to have a gander at the brushless tools. The only stick in the mud I think I will run into is some tools may have communication wires. I know...

    Ryobi 18V pack repair

It does. I bought a 3d printed tool adapter for ryobi tools. I mostly bought it because I can pop the bottom of it off and directly wire a custom pack to the tool. The plan is an LTO or lifepo4 pack. LTO would be awesome. Probably use XT connectors, like XT 120 so I can swap out adapters and...

I figured that figure was off. Thats NMC level weight. Still very nice. Most 100 AH 12 volt batteries are 25 lbs without any features. That means you could have a luggable 40 lb 3 kw battery. Not bad at all!

280 watt hours a KG? I looked up a prismatic eve, a 280 Ah cell and they run around 160-165 watt hours a KG. I am disgustingly American so I measure everything in anything but the metric system. In ar-15 football fields (LBS) Thats 127 watts a lb. So a kilowatt is...7.88 lbs? Dang thats LIGHT...

    Recycling Large Lifepo4 batteries

ah dang. Judging by your forum post on it that company sounds SKETCHY. If you do find a recycler, you could keep the metal cases and bits and unburnt bobs for future projects.

Experiments with $40 'starter' lifepo4 for engine cranking

Nice, the price is right for sure. I am tired of going through lead acid batteries. They make them worse every year and the price keeps going up. Mild paranoia makes me feel like its being forced out. Have you had any issues with the charge coil on lawn tractors messing with the BMS? Perfect...

    All Electric Tractor

I've seen some very practical conversions done on compact and medium sized tractors. Always tractors with frame rails, not one that uses the engine as a structural part for obvious reasons. A DIY approach is more work but infinitely more reliable. More robust parts with a proven track record. 48...

    Recycling Large Lifepo4 batteries

Down cycle? Do they still function or they completely trashed? I'd gladly take some old and worn but functioning lifepo4 batteries. They can always do light duty work till the cows come home.

DIY 12v LifePo4 to replace Prius hybrid battery?

Any issues in the cold? Any fooling circuitry or other modifications? What did you need to modify the harness for? I have an aging 08 Prius with a good but ticking time bomb NIMH battery, I’ve seen some kits they sell for lifepo4 replacements but they want 2100 for it and it’s often sold out...

    Alternatives to Midnite Solar Kid?

I’m trying to find an a cheaper alternative to the midnite classic 150 for small wind turbines or engine driven PMAs. I can’t justify 600-700 dollars on a CC when the turbine is 300-500. Do you know if the midnite kid will work with the classic 150 in follow me mode?

Signature Solar Chargeverter Important Feature Request

I'd like to see a 12/24 volt version. Hard to find large chargers like that. Even at the smaller wattages those lower voltages would put out they would still be very useful.

100Ah pack with yellow lid/top and a dozen names (Ogreen, Konce..)

Sounds like a tear down is in order. Probably 50 ah cells.

So where is the best place (via USA) to order Grade A 320/302/280ah EVE/CATL batteries from?

My state adopted it but it doesn’t matter because I live in the middle of nowhere with no code enforcement. Half the properties out here have outhouses or dump raw sewage into a pit.

100Ah pack with yellow lid/top and a dozen names (Ogreen, Konce..)

Please, don’t leave us hanging! That’s a deal, even for b grade cells. I can’t build them that cheap.

Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

My magnum 4024 is about 14 years old, no issues. Downside is I can’t replace it. Magnum moved to Mexico, the QC and customer service will be in the pits for a few years.

Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

It is antiquated. That’s early 2000s tech. The Outback MX is also really dated. F-ing gel buttons. Every decade has its quarks with tech. I hate gel buttons. Mine are wore out on the outback cc. All great units though, all made with the best of components. They do have a DIY line. Limited in...

Soft starter well pump coming soon

In my case it would have a breather, going to a tank with a breather and an external fill line I dump tank water into, so two open outlets for air. I don’t have code enforcement, it’s a fairly low quality well I don’t consider potable. We filter all of our water. I’d manually fill it with a...

Soft starter well pump coming soon

What about running without a check valve? It may take a bit to get water to the surface but I’m not filling a house, just a tank.

Soft starter well pump coming soon

In my application than I don’t think it would be a huge issue. I fill a tank. So it’s going to be one start a day or every other day.

Soft starter well pump coming soon

How does the grundfos differ than? It doesn’t seem to suffer from its soft start? If the bearings are different it would help when looking for other pumps with similar designs.

Soft starter well pump coming soon

https://active-controls-llc.myshopify.com/products/activestart-softstart-20a-pump-starter-acs20pst Not sure if it’s the 115 or 230, no specs listed but it looks like it’s out now. Probably the 115, he said the 230 comes out later.

Soft starter well pump coming soon

I specifically asked about 2 wire pumps and was told it would work. Don’t know much about soft starts to tell. I might end up getting a 3 wire pump anyways. I only have two wires that go to the bottom of the hill so I will need to build a system down there to power it but it seems like three...

    Off-grid: illegal in Florida?

This is why I like living in WV. Zero code enforcement beyond septic (loosely enforced) and building codes. I can pretty much do what I want as long as I don’t live in a major city.

Soft starter well pump coming soon

Just want to preface with I’m not being paid, influenced or affiliated with the company. I was looking for soft starters last week and found a few videos on a new company that makes plug in soft starters. A lot of RVers are talking about it or promoting it more likely. Either way I called...

Can someone please sell me on Dakota lithium. What am I missing?

All I can tell about them is they have been selling lithium batteries longer than anyone I can remember. I remember seeing them sell small format lithium batteries back in 2017. 7 ah batteries like a UPS.

I really like the new powerpro battery..

Silver as a material? Has that been confirmed? Would make for a great boon for silver hoarders like me! The price would definitely get jacked up.

I really like the new powerpro battery..

I think you can get those quick fit terminals on aliexpress. I’ve seen them before. Kind of neat and would make a home built look a bit more professional. Really neat battery overall but home built still has the lowest cost. I saw 110-120 a kWh for cells. I’d say 150 is possible after bms etc...

    50Ah lifepo4 starter in 2011 Prius

Interesting, I just bought a gen 2 08 Prius with a bad 12 volt battery. I might give it a shot. Might try a “compact” 100 AH battery. Did the chins fit tight or did it have more room?

How to Build Your Own Nickel Iron Batteries?

I did a tear down of a Chinese cell. They cut a lot of corners for something so expensive. Pretty much koh3 electrolyte, lithium hydroxide helps a lot to increase efficiency, Chinese cut back at one point to save money. 40 grams a liter. I would go for 80. Seems to keep the electrolyte from...

Fangpusun makes counterfeit Victron, Outback & others

Do they work? Actual copies or just a shell over a crappy pwm controller? I want to build a diy generator like David poz but I don’t want to spend 200-300 dollars and possibly fry an expensive victron.

DIY The AlternatorGenerator by David Poz

I’m surprised the magic smoke didn’t escape. I remember asking an engineer about this at midnite and he explicitly told me it’s a bad idea. Maybe it’s the extra high voltage ceiling of that controller. So the basic gist I am getting is with the stock regulator removed and x current and voltage...

    Electric dryer power reduction ???

You lowered the wattage but pretty much halved the heat. Resistive heating is pretty set. It’s doubtful a slower and lower watt dryer will save power unless you count inverter efficiencies at different loads or lead acid peukert effect. You could gut it and put in a air to water or air to air...

    Ryobi 18V pack repair

Sorry to revive a dead thread but does anyone make a good full featured 5s bms? I have some old Ryobi cells and batteries but honestly I just want to build a custom pack and escape from the low quality batteries they sell. Want something bigger, maybe a backpack and use an old single stack...

    DC generator, poor mans edition

Very nice, especially the muffler but as I said, I have free natural gas. With a cheap 6.5 HP predator and an extended warranty I can run it to my hearts content and swap it out before the warranty runs out. Down the road the running cost is still very low. I’d rather my batteries stay in top...
