Yes I am using it in a 24 volt system. I wonder if that has something to do with it. Maybe setting it to 50v will actually set it to 25v in my application.

Correct. The folks at SS didn't seem to have any concerns with the connected PV array. They sold it too me. I've never gotten close to 2000 watts from my array. I now have 2 growatts running in parallel. I only have 1000w of PV connected to the 2nd unit so far.

There must be another piece of equipment in the field that isn't backed-up. The DSL signal has a limited range so there is probably a piece of equipment in your neighborhood that has also lost power.

Be persistent. It took me two weeks to finally get my return shipping label. It should have been two easy 5 minute conversations. I picked up my panels in person. They were on a pallet that looked to be made exactly for my panels, I was impressed with that.

Try to keep the temps below below 80f if possible. Heat kills lead acid batteries.
