    build 72 x 18650 @ 6V portable light

My plug-n-play lights are doing fine. They are adequate for my little off-grid cabin that is high in the mountains BUT I need to go longer between charging. The self-discharge rate (worst case) is about 15% over six months for 18650 batteries (a local supplier is selling used laptop...

Does anyone have any experience with this generator?

Well... I was saying good things about the HF generators and mine suddenly had a problem. I was sawing and the blade speed suddenly dropped to about 100RPM. Tested without the extension cord, tested all sockets, and then tested all socket with the drill. Same results. I have about 226 hours...

    Case for Fortune 100Ah battery

Hey Will, it may be a snug fit but it appears the Harbor Freight Apache 2800 case could do the job.

    Off Grid LED Lighting

Yes, for now this is my area lighting. I drive once or twice a week for a connection. No AC power.

Not sure if this will be helpful heating and insulation

The R116 is foam. I should have sandwiched foil in the foam. That is enough for the ceiling.

    portable power station

Very nice. I built one with 100W @ 12 v H.F. Probably a little less $$ than yours but only 100w. The rough field is tearing the cart apart. This one (is it ok to link to the video?) has 600Ah @ 24v. Includes panels but no cart. $1,100

    HELP! Lithium/LED lighting

The lights on Amazon appear to be exactly what I need. The LiFe PO4 batteries (135Ah) from Alibaba are about 17% less in price (when doing apples-to-apples comparison) than Anker. I will also get about 4x the lumens, and about 3x use before recharge. Thanks to all!

    HELP! Lithium/LED lighting

Thanks for the replies. I'll look into the lights on Amazon. I'm also going to research the LTO batteries for this application. Any tricks to wiring/ charging?

    HELP! Lithium/LED lighting

I've attached a few photos of my portable-emergency 18650 (Anker)-LED light. My off-grid portable emergency lights take-2 How do I wire this? For the most part, my lights in a small building in the woods are solar powered. In the portable light shown below, I can unplug the Anker 26800...

How important is it to ground a portable propane generator?

VERY! Out there in cyber space is an article titled, "Generators that can kill". Mostly the article addresses grounding.

Not sure if this will be helpful heating and insulation

I should have mentioned my mass.... The walls are 2x 5/8" drywall. 3x 3/4" drywall would have been adequate. Of course, this is not practical in an RV.

Not sure if this will be helpful heating and insulation

Here is what I have learned about insulation after 7+ years alone in a small cabin in the high mountains near the U.S.- Canadian border: The little cabin (actually, a storage shed, 16' x 26' on two floors) has insulation values of: *Floor: R-41 (This includes IR barriers. Anything below R28...

    Off Grid LED Lighting

Here is a light I use. I plan to build more. For the most part, my lights in a small building in the woods are solar powered. In the portable light shown below, I can unplug the Anker 26800, take it outside and plug it into my H.F. 100w system. Need to upgrade the H.F. system to 400w@...

Does anyone have any experience with this generator?

Bought a H.F. Predator 4000w about eight years ago. I knew it wouldn't last but I was only buying it as a disposable generator for power tool use. I put an hour meter on it, and only use ethanol-free gas. It is still going strong. Usually starts on the 1st or 2nd pull. My only complain is...

cheap 220v system for AirCon & Ref

I didn't get my refrigerator done last summer, so no photos BUT I do know of a guy who did it and my system is modeled after his. THE BOX: Without drawings, the best way to describe it is; a box in a box. It's made of concrete, no aggregate. A concrete box about 48" x 24" x 16"H. 2 liter soda...
