Can I put that cable directly into the ground? or do I need some kind of cable protection pipe?

I got this thick aluminum cable. Can I use it to connect the panel and inverter (schematic above) at a distance of 12 meters? (measurements in the photo are in centimeters)

Will a cable thickness of 10 mm2 (8 awg) be sufficient to connect the panel (combination box) and the inverter at a distance of 10 meters? I have 8 285 watt panels, connected in 4 series giving 38 amps and 78 volts. The inverter is 24v.

I have problems with short cables, so is it important to connect the solar panels (two in series) as in drawing no. 1 or they can be connected as in drawing no. 2?

I am leaving home and the solar system will not be used for few weeks. My system have FLA batteries. I wonder if something needs to be done in this case like disconnecting the fuses from the solar panels or batteries. I'm just planning to turn off the inverter, is that enough?

Tnx chrisski! And what happens to the busbar voltage when the inverter charges the batteries? Do the voltage remain 24V on the busbar or does it change value if the inverter charges the batteries with a higher voltage?

Thank you form making point that converter need to be able to work 24/7. I didn't think about that and I will for sure keep that on my mind. If I can put DC converter for lower voltage on inverter (battery) busbar, can I use busbar for 24V output? I need 12V or 24V output for lightening so that...

Hi, I have hybrid inverter with no DC output. Inverter is 24V, connected on two 12V batteries. Is there way to make 12V DC output somewhere in system?

On this picture what does it mean "only in theoretical example" Is that mean that one pole circuit breaker goes only on positive wire or can be put also on negative wire? Like you can see in my combiner box circuit breaker is on negative wire. Is that correct?

In my combiner box is some kind of electronic circuit board. On board are connected all positive (+) wires from PV so I suppose that is some kind of busbar. Behind board is heat sink. Has anyone know exactly purpose of board and how it works?
