Solar panels under load drop to 37V from 66V

Finally got around to swapping panels today and success! Not too bad on my 30A controller. Glad to be back up to full production.

Solar panels under load drop to 37V from 66V

I did voltage measurements on the 2S that was low. One measured 35Voc, the other 29-31Voc. I checked Isc on both and they were both around 3A. I have 6 spares available. I think I will swap the lower voltage one out for another. Will verify the voltage on it before beginning to see how this goes..

Solar panels under load drop to 37V from 66V

And here is the second set. Me thinks we have a winner. So can I use a diode tester to get some readings off of these to see which is the issue? The second voltage drop was me flipping the solar breaker a second time just to make sure the MPPT got the hint.

Solar panels under load drop to 37V from 66V

Here is the first set. The drop to zero was breaker off to make the change and reset the MPPT to track again.

Solar panels under load drop to 37V from 66V

Alright, here is what I am seeing. Started charging my car again. fullish sunlight. Batteries started at full. Here is the solar voltage trend. Going out to seperate the 2S2P into 2S now.

Sun is setting now so I can try the separate string thing tomorrow.

Solar panels under load drop to 37V from 66V

No. It is a 2S2P setup as well FYI. These are BenQ panels. I need to find my picture of the data sheet.

Solar panels under load drop to 37V from 66V

I have a small 4 panel string that Voc is 66V. When a load happens (charging batteries, discharging to car) the panels voltage on the SCC drops to 37V. The other SCC with similar panels only drops down to 55V which is closer to what it is supposed to be. I thought it was connections and changed...

Giandel inverter fans need mounted horizontal apparently

There is a small 2 CFM drop in what I want to replace it with. I plan to move the inverter to a better location this season as well.

Giandel inverter fans need mounted horizontal apparently

I was doing maintenance on my setup and wanted to see if I could run with the higher output into my EV so I cranked the input of the EV to 12A at 120V to see how everything would work. While investigating the system for any hiccups and such, I noted it was really quiet. Both fans on my inverter...

EPever MPPT Charge Controller Stuck On "Promote"

What is the exact model number of the charge controller? Some of the BP cannot take the 77V input.

Moving setup to inside garage from back porch. What to look out for.

I have been up until it was in the 110 range then I had to drop the charge rate to 8 amps. I did that for about a week then only charge on 100 degree or less days. It seems to use 4kWh a day so I like it. I have 6 more panels to add so more capacity on the horizon.

Moving setup to inside garage from back porch. What to look out for.

So I am not moving this seasonally, I am moving it to be better protected from the elements. I used this to power a computer and some networking equipment as well as charge my electric car using L1 charging. This will move it closer to the source of where the power is being used, help protect it...

Moving setup to inside garage from back porch. What to look out for.

I am moving my setup at the end of the hot season from my back screened in porch to inside my garage. Beyond any cable adjustments and using backer board on the walls, what are other things to look out for? Also, since I am in the garage and the house grounding pole is there as well, is...

Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

I did as requested and it was still loading the previous driver. It seems as though it was forced as the new driver wasn't fully installed. I believe I completed the install now, but it is giving the "not a modem" error. I think there was a command I needed to issue to make it fine. I can't...

Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

Here is the dmesg for the two SCC cables. and uname -a Further note, I did the driver file make as well and it still shows it is using the ACM driver. I saw a suppress command one a web page, I will have to search for it. otherwise:

Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

Okay. I wanted to make clear, BarkingSpider version of SolarShed was deleted from the system. I had to clear it off to get venkors python3 version of SolarShed. So the original version is not on my system. The Python 3 version is. I performed the git checkout and now I am getting an error about...

Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

Alright. I moved back to the original SolarShed directory as I had shut the system down and it got removed from /tmp. I did the Git command and it appears I have thee .txt file. I executed the script for it and also did the lsusb command. Note, I did have the com ports extended to the virtual...

Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

It looks like it is looking for that driver to call for the data. I don't understand how to install that driver. Git clone was new to me, the advance rm to get rid of the files was new as well. Make appears to work, I seem to me missing that driver so that it can talk. I did do pip install...

Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

Alright. That took a bit as some hidden files prevented me from removing the old directory so I could git clone the new repo. I still get the same error but there is a readme about running a script using the requirements.txt file, however that file did not download when I performed the git...

Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

I found out and installed git-all. I have downloaded "git clone https://github.com/BarkinSpider/SolarShed.git" and got the Solar Shed scripts. I tried to execute the Epever one and got this: Thanks for your patience as I fumble through this.

I also wanted to add that your guide was very helpful. I only had a little confusion about grafana install part. It took me a moment to realise the last two lines of code you had there were all supposed to be one line for the wget command.

Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

Okay. I followed the guide. I have the test readouts working. I just need to connect my two Epever controllers and two Overkill solar BMS. I am very much a Linux noob, but what cmd do I need to issue to run the scripts from Github for either of these? Also, I enabled the USB devices from the...

    Blown it's top ? Why?

Does the vent point out like it blew out or is it pointed in like something punctured it? Also, it appears you have this contained in a plastic box, what does the lid look like? What covers the terminals?

    Settings Information Required

If it helps any as well, here are my parameters from my Tracer AN series. I have a 30A and a 40A feeding two batteries in parallel. This is a 24V system so cut everything in half. I only charge to 3.45V per cell on the boost. I used to charge with a higher boost, but I would get a run away...

Epever 3210AN or 4210AN SCC: Will it work okay with my simple system?

My issues with my Epevers only were when I set the charging voltage too high and a FET flipped to turn off the charging. I don't charge that high anymore and no further issues with a 30A and 40A in parallel. I do make sure I get the USB cables for them as I have a standalone system that monitors...

Charging AA & AAA for Amish community

No disrespect taken. The one I shown outputs either AC voltage or DC voltage depending on what you buy. Either AI think would work. That one you showed was 12V and 20A. So the output was 240W. The one I linked was 750W I believe. There are bigger output ones, but if you are doing only AA and AAA...

Anyone done business for batteries with srikobatteries.com?

I did not return it to them or ask for a replacement. I just ordered a new one from overkill as I like the connectors more anyway.
