    Growatt 3000 - 'Solar/Battery/Utility' firmware issue?

Sorry to revive a slightly old thread, but came across this searching for the same issue. I have the Growatt 3000 24V hooked up to two EG4 LifePower4s setup setting 05 set to LI (05) so the AIO is communicating with the battery BMS. I noticed that once my battery gets to 100% that any loads...

(Solved) Solar Assistant Internal Server Error

I just had this happen as well. On a trip so no option to reimage until I get back. Anything else I can try or is the only option a reimage?

What's the consensus on how to run Growatt 3000 with EG4 - BMS comms or user settings?

If it helps, here is what SA is reporting for battery voltage. The peak is at 28.4 then it slides down to 26.4 - 26.6. Is this normal / expected?

What's the consensus on how to run Growatt 3000 with EG4 - BMS comms or user settings?

The subject pretty much sums it up. I've been running my 2x24v EG4 batteries with my Growatt 3000 24v AIO for the last year or with the BMS comms connected, but recently expanded my array and so have been taking a closer look at the data coming off the system via solar assistant and am...

Solar diversion load into hot water heater

Sorry - was wondering about hardware specifically. Probably run Home Assistant with Mosquitto added on.

Solar diversion load into hot water heater

OK, here is v2 based on feedback so far. Big switch is to something more solid state. Not quite comfortable with getting down to the component level (i.e. mofsets), so paying a little more for smart components (Shelly smart relay) to get this up and running. This seem reasonable or missing...

Solar diversion load into hot water heater

My plan is to feed the heating element with 24v so a 600w element would need 25A. I’ve dabbled with arduino but mqtt is all new to me so going to dive into that end of the pool. This is half the reason I love these projects! (Other half is free energy from the sun ?)

Solar diversion load into hot water heater

Solid call on where to put the thermostat. Redoing the diagram to reflect. What's a snubber? Any links to the PV MPPT Product? Would it be something I would switch to manually or leave in the circuit path and it would figure out when to activate?

Solar diversion load into hot water heater

Solid point on the potential for an oscillation. I know the voltage relay has a timer function. Wondering if I can use that to delay the opening of the circuit until a voltage drop would have recovered? Will dive into the doc on it and see what's possible there. I have the inverter connected...

Solar diversion load into hot water heater

Ah thanks for the tip - will look to see what the concerns were. Any other better DC thermostats you know of?

Solar diversion load into hot water heater

I am a few weeks away from adding another 1kw in panels to my mobile system, which will give me 2.6kw total. I will wait to see what the system production looks like once everything is in place, but there have already been a few days where I am generating more energy than my batteries (10kwh of...

Anyone try these as battery heaters?

Looking for a simple 24v based solution for keeping my two 24v EG4 LifePO4 batteries over the winter in my skoolie. Anyone try these? Thinking of two each attached to the bottom of each of the batteries run out of a thermostat that comes on at 35 and off at 45. 4 PCS Film Heater Plate...

Any downsides to just shutting down my system over the winter?

From what I understand lead acid can accept and provide a charge over a wider temperature range than lifepo4 but not really a solution I need since I don’t need to really use the system when it’s cold.

Any downsides to just shutting down my system over the winter?

Yep lifepo4. I have a battery disconnect wired to the positives I can throw as well - good call.

Any downsides to just shutting down my system over the winter?

Starting to get cold around these parts and checked on my mobile system a few days ago and sure enough one of the low temp sensors had tripped on my eg4 lifepo4 batteries (good to know it works!) and the battery had stopped charging. I looked into heater mats and all but it occurred to me I...

Mini split decision: 120v 20 SEER vs 240v 30.5 seer with auto transformer?

Planning for the next phase of the solar install on my bus. Have 1500+ watts of panels, a growatt 3000 AIO and 10kwh of LifePO4 batteries now. Net phase is adding a mini split AC and if it performs well enough, pulling the roof top unit I have now, and adding another 1K watts of solar. I am...

    Gowatt for RV

I got around this by setting the min operating at 20% of battery (growatt connected to battery BMS) for shutoff. That way if it shuts off, there is still some power left and if I need to "limp", I can power it up (it doesn't check % while its it startup mode) then change it to something lower.

    Ideas for extra panels?

I’ve got 4 extra 265w panels from a kit I purchased to install on my skoolie (rv). Besides sending them to anyone that see and replies to this thread ;-), any ideas of small projects I could use them in? I’m on a 22 acre farm so lots of room. Just need the inspiration.

    Skoolie solar install thread

Had the bus out twice since the install and so far so good. Have been at Hatteras for nearly a week now, running both ACs (have a 13.5 dometic rooftop and added a little Hisense 8k window unit in the back) whenever we want (2-4 hours a day) and the little unit in the back all night and haven’t...

    Is my production in line?

Yeah the kit I ordered included 10 panels. Only have room for 6 on the roof (at least until I switch out the rooftop AC for a mini split...winter project this year likely) so I can carry the other 4 as a ground array. That gives me plenty o power.

    Is my production in line?

I have 6x 265 watt jinko solar panels flat mounted on my skoolie. I’m running it into a growatt 3000 AIO that’s connected to solarassistant. The peak power I’ve seen is around 1.3 kw. Is that about right or am I under producing / need to make some changes?

    Gowatt for RV

I have a growatt 3000 24v in my skoolie and love it. Took it out for its first real test last weekend and it performed flawlessly. I have ~1600 watts of solar on the roof and used 1000 watt ground array and I was able to run AC and lights and microwave whenever I wanted for 5 days in the heat of...

    EG4 Lifepower4 short circuit protection

It has not done it since I installed the second battery. BUT, I’ve also changed the wiring (finalizing lengths, etc) and installed a soft start on the AC. Could be any of those three or something else.

DC2DC charger in an AIO system?

I have the growatt connected to the battery BMS so all the parameters there are set automagically. Will see if it displays them somehow (on screen or through the software hookup) and then match in the victron. Thanks for the tips and confirmation!

DC2DC charger in an AIO system?

Looking to add a victron 12v to 24v DC2DC charger to my system built around a growatt 3000. Can I just wire the charger outputs to the bus bar and call it a day? If there is power coming from AC or solar at the same time, do I need to account for that? Only thing I can think of is making...

Options for carrying ground array panels

Wondering what any of you that have a ground array do to bring along your panels? I just finished mounting 6 - 265w panels on a roof rack on my bus and have another 4 that I bring along with me when I know I’m going to need a lot of power and not have (or don’t want) access to a generator. Like...

    Skoolie solar install thread

I’m sure there are somewhere on Reddit, but I’m too lazy to go find them. Its a 1999 bluebird with the 5.9 Cummins (24 valve ISB) and an AT545 transmission. It tops out around 65 mph but does get around 10 mpg.

    Skoolie solar install thread

Finished the hardware installed and wiring today (did I mention I really HATE drilling holes in my bus!). Flipped the disconnect back on and it all works. Went to about 700 watts on a pretty cloudy day. Have 3 nurserts I’m going to have to replace, but took it for a test drive and nothing...

    Skoolie solar install thread

It’ll be a full 3d model of the bus and the panels with different front and side wind speeds. Since it’s a freebie, I’m not sure if we’ll get all the detail in there, but should be good enough to know if I’ve got issues. I’ll post the results here when I get them.
