    Aionrise brand panels?

I'm also looking for these panels. I currently have 12, and am looking for 18 or 20 more. I built my ground mount for these specifc size panels and now I cant get them anymore.

EG4 6500EX PV and Load Values

Its both the > 10% efficiency loss and the high idle consumption for these devices. My older Outback system was only about 2%-3% total. You get what you pay for I guess. I've compensated by adding more panels. I may try to put in one of my Outback FM80 charge controllers and see how it...

EG4 6500EX PV and Load Values

I'm using the latest firmware for both the display and inverter on both units. I actually just upgraded to them about a week two weeks ago. Roy

EG4 6500EX PV and Load Values

I'm going to have to agree with this as the reason as well. Wonder if there is a shunt that will work for direct PV measurements. Would be nice to actually know how much power I am really making without relying on just the battery shunt (since thats not the whole story of the power usage)..

EG4 6500EX PV and Load Values

Has anyone else noticed large differences in the power values reported by the EG4 6500EX? I would assume that the PV Power (power coming in on all MPPT), the Power Load (the amount of power being used by the inverter) and the Batter Power (power going in or out of the battery bank) would...

    Unbalanced PV in series

I've never looked at some type of optimizer. And not sure how a microinverter would work.

Over voltage PV series diverter shunt

Thats what I am doing now. I guess I will start looking for some low voltage MPPT charge controllers for single panel use. Can use the panel on a water pump or something during the day.

    Unbalanced PV in series

Unfortunately, finding a suitable replacement is MUCH harder than you would think. These things go out of stock quickly and become discontinued. Might find one with similar specs, but the size (LxW) is so far out that it wont fit in the array. I have the same issue with another array that one...

    Unbalanced PV in series

Thinking about this more, it seems that "in theory' this would be the same as 2 parallel strings of 6 panels, but ONE of the panels in ONE of the string being 100% shaded. So perhaps that might be the better question... what is the result of a single shaded panel?

    Unbalanced PV in series

In general I know that you should wire panels so that they balance out voltage. However, I recently lost a single panel in an array of 12. What would be the result of wiring them up into two strings .. one with 5 panels and one with 6. Right now I have had to go down to 10 panels, and would...

Over voltage PV series diverter shunt

I have 12 (or had) 12 panels in my array. These are Axitec AC-330 panels with Voc: 45.83v and Isc: 9.27a. I say "had" 12 because 1 was damaged by a gust of wind blowing it about 100 ft across the property (faulty hardware). Anyway, now with only 11, I can no longer split them in to 2...

    Bad cell ???

Not cell #1. In this case its cell #3 of 16. Next time I get a chance I can rotate the cell to a different spot.

    Bad cell ???

    Yes

    Bad cell ???

I have a cell that seems to have an unusual charging slope. When I first got it it behaved like all the others. Slow slope until about 3.40-3.42, then a steady rise to 3.6 .. the expected slope. However, now it gets to about the 3.45 area and then just drops to 3.38 (while still pulling in...

    Quick sanity check

I'm not looking at going to the moon here .. just getting a few hundred extra watts vs having to run a new line and separate CC. :)

    Quick sanity check

Depends on if your talking nominal or open circuit. The nominal voltage for the 330's is 40.1 .. Open circuit is 49.5 ... I always calculate with open circuit (VoC) so that I am within limits and don't have to deal with other factors. Its not good for calculating actual usable output, but it...

    Quick sanity check

I could always leave one of the 205w panels out so I was not so close to the 500v max of my CC. I'd still gain the other 5 (or really 4 with power loss).

    Quick sanity check

Hmm ... I thought that in series that you add up all the VOLTS and use the lowest AMPS. In parallel you add al the AMPS and use the lowest VOLTS.

    Quick sanity check

I have 6 ea 320w panels (49.5v voc/8.6a isc) and 6 ea 205w panels (33.2 voc/8.36 isc). In the past I have used separate CC's for each string, but due to some re-wiring and re-location I need to try and minimize the cable runs. So was thinking I would put all 12 in series. I know I will loose...

    Multiple BMS configuration

I think your correct. I would assume that a "Smart BMS" would actually be smart.. :). I guess its why the high end systems like Victron and Outback have separate charge controllers (and cost so much). We need a device with some brains in it between the inverter/charger and the BMS. If I had...

    Multiple BMS configuration

This is exactly the situation in both the JK and JBD BMS's. Usually when I see this happen I will go into my inverter and set the max charge current down low (10 amp or so) so when the cell over voltage resets it wont flood the BMS with 100amp of power before it says "whoa! I can't take that...

    Multiple BMS configuration

10-15 Ah .. Unfortunately, the MPP type/series of inverters (EG 6500EX, LV6048, ect) only let you set the BULK and FLOAT. No ABSORB stage. So my float stage is basically used as the absorb stage. My Outback inverter lets me set the absorb, float and re-bulk stages. The absorb stage is...

Yea.. sorry .. that should have been 3.585. .. 3.85 would be very bad. :)

    Multiple BMS configuration

This is the confusing part. Everywhere I read (here in this forum, from Victron, MPP, Signature Solar, ect), all say basically the same .. 58v bulk, 56.4 float for a 48v system). Even the BMS defaults for Overkill Solar (sells the JBD BMS), and the JK defaults are all about the same values. I...

    Multiple BMS configuration

Yes. Each pack is 48v (16 - 3.2v cells). And each shelf holds to packs. I actually found an old image (pre-cable management when I first built the shelf). These are the numbers recommended by this forum (by Will). Also by Victron and MPP. Recommended Charge Profile for DIY LiFePO4...

    Multiple BMS configuration

That video is again dealing with BMS systems that can communicate to each other (one BMS to another with a single CAN connection to the inverter). Up to a point, yes. But without some type of active balancing system even normal bulk/absorb/float cycles are not enough to keep them in sync. If...

    Multiple BMS configuration

I will admit that the cable lengths are not exactly the same form each bank back to the inverter. You can only get so close. I don't have any pics at the moment, but can explain the layout a bit. There are currently 3 shelves in the rack that each hold 2 packs of 16 cells. Each shelf is...

    Multiple BMS configuration

I have now completed my 5th (out of 8) pack for my DIY system (16x280ah in each bank). I switched away form JDB over to JK BMS for the active balance capabilities and this has helped stabilize the voltage differences between cells and between the 5 BMS's. But I am wondering, of the folks that...

    EG 6500-EX Fault Reset

I think that is exactly what it was. The batteries got to 100% and there was not enough of a load on the panels. I'm going to take one of the panels off for the short term until I can rewire/rearrange things. I'd still like to know how to reset the fault remotely. I had to drive out and...

    EG 6500-EX Fault Reset

And just in case someone is wondering how I can still have power for WiFi and internet when the inverter is down. I have a completely separate system with separate panels powering my internet and security. And I was mistaken .. I have 11 panels on the system that faulted ... so it could...

    EG 6500-EX Fault Reset

My system is remote (2 hour drive away) and every now and then it goes into a "Bus Over" fault mode. I'm assuming its form the solar going over 500v at "extra" peak sun. The iOS app still works and I can see that the inverter is still on, just not producing power (from the battery or solar)...

    6500EX-48 Generator Input/Usage

I saw this, but was not sure it was meant to trigger the generator start since it had no prevision for warmup before throwing a large AC load at it. Or even a cool down when just "disconnecting" the AC load. I might be better off not having the AGS and just deal with the generator manually when...

    6500EX-48 Generator Input/Usage

It may look like a downgrade at the moment, but my existing system is setup for 24v and I reached the limit on it (its only 3500 watt inverter). As soon as I get all the parts up and running for this new system, it will be MUCH larger then the prior system (4-5x larger). Roy

    6500EX-48 Generator Input/Usage

Two of the 6500EX .. Right now I just have a single one hooked up until I get time to install the second solar array. I currently don't need the 240v, but will in the future. Roy
