question about wiring panels in series

Thank you, Pete. I think I decided upon multiple 24 volt all DC "units/circuits". I am only putting a 320 max watt load on each unit/circuit...13.33 a= 320w/24v...2 -230 watt solar panels wired in series and 2 250 Ah batteries in series per "unit/circuit". I need to keep it simple because...

    Am I understanding this correctly?

Let's say I have 4 solar panels. I run two in parallel to produce 20 Vmp and 10 amps, and I run that to a positive and a negative buss bar. Then I take the other two and run in parallel to produce 20 Vmp and 10 amps and run that to the same buss bars. Do I now have 40 Vmp and 20 amps at the buss...

Newbie with an Ohm's law, battery question

Okay. Great. Thank you. I just bought cheap 24v inverter. I imagine it is probably that. I was just wondering if I misunderstood the math/ohms law.

Newbie with an Ohm's law, battery question

Hi. I took two 12 volt batteries, wired them in series. Produced 26 volts. Hooked it up to a 24 v inverter. Then I put an AC device on inverter that draws 200 watts. When I took an amp reading. meter says I draw 16+ amps. 200 watts at 12 volts should be 16.6 amps...I would think 200 watts at 24...

question about wiring panels in series

Thank you MisterSandals...I am talking about battery to loads. I guess to be sure, I need to get some wire, run it out 100' or so, hook up a 24 V light at the end, and put 400 watt load right after the battery connection, and see what I get. Then test it again as I shorten the run. I know I will...

question about wiring panels in series

Next question...concerns voltage drop on my DC circuits. If I run a 24 volt system, and had 400 watts per circuit, how long can the run of the circuit be if I use 12 awg?

question about wiring panels in series

One of my thoughts, and unfortunately there are many, was to have 2 solar panels and all the equipment needed per circuit, so each circuit would be a "unit" as you described. Then I would have 10 separate mini power systems for the building. Bad idea? One of the reasons is I could put the panels...

question about wiring panels in series

Thank you...Haiti is a place no one wants to send their ship to right now. I think I am stuck buying panels and batteries in Haiti, but the other stuff I think I can carry on as extra luggage

question about wiring panels in series

Thank you, Gents. I love all you are teaching me. Looking for one of you to show me where I am wrong. The 24 V LED I have tested use 18 watts. The DC fans use 36 watts. So I designed the system so that I allowed 20 watts per light, and 40 watts per fan, plan on piping them all together in a...

question about wiring panels in series

Thank you all. I have bought a couple 100 w solar panels, 24 volt charge controller, small 12 v 14 Ah batteries so I can wire them in series/parallel, 24 volt fan, 24 volt LED, buck transformer and other stuff I need so I can do some testing and try to teach myself. I'm in education mode right...

question about wiring panels in series

Thank you one and all for your help. I appreciate your time and help more than you know. Some background ... I am recently retired. There is an organization called Schools for Haiti that has about 12 schools and about 2500 kids...The person who started the ministry when he retired did everything...

question about wiring panels in series

I am new to solar. If I had 2-300 watt/12 volt solar panels, and I wired them in series...Would I would obtain 600 watts/ 24 volts? ...would the resulting amperage be 25 amps? a=600w/24V...and if I then wanted to run a Straight DC system, no inverter, would I be able to expect the 2 panels...
