How much wall space does a Victron system require?

I received a reply from the Victron dealer and will include it here in case others have the same question and see this thread. He said: "For your batteries and inverters you’re looking at needing about 4x7 feet." I assume that space will accomodate the other equipment required since that is...

How much wall space does a Victron system require?

@ricardocello @Adam De Lay Thank you for your replies. Gonna look at the manual now.

How much wall space does a Victron system require?

    Says MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-50 120V. Two units for a 6kW system.

How much wall space does a Victron system require?

Trying to estimate wall space required for a Victron system. Will have two MultiPlus-II inverters and a Lifepo Battery. I have the dimensions on a battery but don't know how much overall wall/floor space all of the equipment would take up. Planning to put it in a 10' x 15' pantry.

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

Yeah I am not on this forum a lot, I never heard of Current Connected before. I will look into it.

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

What do they bring to the table that the MS dealer can't? I like the guy in MS, he is very responsive and since I have done sales myself I hate to give the sale to a new entity when the guy in MS is the one that has taken his time to work with me thus far.

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

Yeah the dealer in MS is very nice and very knowledgeable. He will put the system together and I will get his input on how to make it easier for the electrician. I already sent the electrician a youtube video made by @Will Prowse when he said he was trying to research Victron installations.

I don't understand what you mean by this.

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

He is an electrician not a salesman. : ) I don't think he is lying though I do think he is doing his best to come up to speed on solar. He works for a company that has 2 offices and lots of other guys but he is the only one that does solar installations. Plus he had never heard of Victron...

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

I believe both inverters are 120v only (I do not need 240). As far as interviewing the electrician, there aren't very many options in that small town. Only found 1 other installer in that region and he mainly does Sol-Ark not Victron.
  11. S

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

Well the Victon system does have 2 MultiPlus-II inverters so I guess that is some redundancy if the system can function (and not be overloaded/ruined) if one goes down. Plan for maintenance is to have a local electrician do the install so they are also around to do repairs (unlike most solar...

Local electrical help needed in brookings OR

@Ariel188 Not sure if you will read this but I am very much like you (single female, multiple dogs, limited mechanical/electrical skills). I would strongly advise that you to plan for redundancy. That means when (not if) you lose power again you have a backup heat source such as a kerosene...

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

I believe the new off-grid Enphase system does not require an Internet connection. I did ask the electrician that sells those systems about that and he swore they don't. Also said there is no single point of failure. As far as Sol-Ark claiming to be EMP hardened, it is a $1500 upgrade and I...

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

Yeah that is what I am thinking. Plus it won't cost that much to upgrade to a 10 year warranty.

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

I added a couple of lines and the Enphase quote also got it wrong. I got your point however 98% of the people reading this know what it means. Do you have any input other than that?
  16. S

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

Yeah the installer is a local electrician that will install whatever system I buy. The Victron quote came from a very nice dealer/installer in Mississippi and he explains things well however he doesn't do installs in Arkansas.

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

This will be in an 1100 sq ft home in Northern Arkansas (the Ozarks). I originally asked for quotes on a 5kW system with at least 15kW in storage since that should be plenty. It is a one person household so I can control the usage and when things are used. House will be fully insulated and all...

Deciding between Victron, Enphase and possibly Sol-ark. Input?

Victron 6kW with 15kW battery (no mount or install) ($13k) Sol-Ark 5.4kW with 15kW battery, rack mount, emp hardened, and install included ($32k) Enphase 8kW with 10kW battery, rack mount, and install included ($32k) This is an off-grid system that will be professionally installed in a new...

Need lot cleared for solar-- how do I estimate the space?

5Kw system for a 700 sq ft off-grid full time residence. It is actually a 100 year old farmhouse being moved to the back of a 30 acre property where it will be restored.

Need lot cleared for solar-- how do I estimate the space?

Thanks! I have actually never been there but the contractor can do that. Guess the worst case scenario is having more trees removed later if they grow a lot (they are young saplings now)

Need lot cleared for solar-- how do I estimate the space?

I didn't think it would be that simple. But yeah this is the perfect time of year to figure it out!

Need lot cleared for solar-- how do I estimate the space?

Thanks. The trees are saplings so I guess I should determine their maximum height first. How do I estimate the 60 degrees? Sorry if I sound ignorant but I honestly am. Is there a mathematical formula that is used and if so how would I find it?

Need lot cleared for solar-- how do I estimate the space?

Bought a wooded lot -- how do I estimate the amount of trees that need to be cleared for optimal sunlight? Lot is flat and located in Arkansas (the Ozarks) if that matters. The panels will be ground mounted. Is there a calculator of some sort? I don't want to remove more trees than is...

Is there an online solar calculator that factors in topography?

Looking to buy land in a hilly region (Ozarks). Is there an online solar calculator that can provide sunlight hours based on GPS coordinates? I am buying land out of state remotely so I can't actually visit the site. Some nice lots have an uphill grade on the south side which means solar will...

    Is 240v really necessary?

Did you have to add a soft starter to it? Which one did you get?

    Is 240v really necessary?

I will make a note of that! Heavy wire may cost more but probably not as much as another 3 grand inverter. :)

    Heat without electricity recommendations.

I was happy to find a two-room off-grid model. Most of the single room heaters have horrible customer reviews but this one looks decent. It is competitively priced too.

    Is 240v really necessary?

I thought I would need it for the well pump but it seems Grundfos has other options though it may depend on well depth.

    Is 240v really necessary?

After having learned that many systems do not provide 240v, and adding it would be pricey I don't think it is required. No central a/c, electric stove, dryer, or big power tools. I thought the well pump may require it but it appears they even make deep well Grundfos pumps and electric lawn...

    Heat without electricity recommendations.

These two sided propane furnaces look very nice; they heat two rooms and function without electricity except for optional fan/thermostat. I also want a small wood stove for heat/cooking just in case the propane runs out.

New Home, North Carolina, Looking for Options

There had to be a catch! So you are saying they should be in an air conditioned space in the summer? That is problematic, I don't use a/c unless temps reach 100. Plus there is a fire risk with these batteries if they are in the house, isn't there?
