1000 AH van build DIY Batteries, looking at 24V, What alternator do I need?

if i can setup a dedicated alternator, ( i don't even know if that's possible)
1. which one for 2019 MB sprinter 4x4
2. best place to get it done right.
3. its going to be a 24v 1000ah setup
4. hold me, i'm scared!

It is possible, but not cheap. I can't say much more than that other than the marine industry is a good place to start your search for a custom 24v alternator.

The easier and probably much cheaper way is to get a DC-DC "battery to battery" charger (Victron and Sterling both make 12v to 24v versions). This way you can charge your 24v lithium battery from your vehicles 12v charging system, and not risk harm to the battery or the alternator.

edit: Wait! Holy HELL! When I first read your post I read 24v 100ah. Now I see you said 1000Ah
You are going to put a 25.6 Kilowatt battery bank in a fan?!? That's crazy, what do you plan to use it for? How do you plan to keep it charged? What are you biggest energy consumers?

Thats going to be a massive setup but for sure on the alternator contact Jonathan Smith he builds some big alts that could handle some of your demand.

1000 amp hours @ 24 volts = 25.6 kwh.
That will power my home for ~2 days.
Thats a big honkin mobile setup.
I multiply by 25.6 because I assume you are going with lifepo4, confirm?
 
I just bought 40 Fortune cells $4600, 10 bms from ali for 520. Want ducted low profile AC, possible incinolet toilet ideally cooktop etc. but may go with diesel webasto cooktop

yes the new Fortune cells that Will flipped over. Cost around 500 each and better than battleborns, so easy to build too.
 
How are you gonna charge them? An alternator idling aint gonna cut it.

1000 to 1400 watts of solar ideally. May hookup with TinyWatts solar, not sure he'll work with DIY batteries though. I love there new deck and can put AC under back storage. 1586866403016.png

I found thanks to onemorebattery the link! 2500 though its a beast and they specialize in MB.
