12 volt wiring

If I am wanting to install 12 volt lighting for a small cabin, how do I wire it before the inverter? Do I just run two wires directly from the batteries to a buss bar or what?

Via a Low Voltage Disconnect. DC loads are notorious for taking batteries to thier death.

Yes, power your 12v LED's from the battery.
You will only need the inverter if some of your loads are AC, hopefully not, because it's less efficient.

If I use the low voltage disconnect do I still need to install inline fuse with each light?

If you use one of the 12v fuse blocks as a load centre (recommended, aren't they cute?) Then each circuit will already be fused.
