6000XP Wiring and questions

luckily (or not?) our water is gas, so don't need to factor that in, pretty cool that the element in yours could be reduced by so much, I like the idea of transferring circuits over as you go.

One thing I'm not yet understanding, please bare with me I know this is very basic!
When we're talking about how much the inverter can handle, are watts and amps the same thing, in terms of tripping the built in breaker?
ie 3000w / 120v = 25 amps

If I have the 6000xp set up with grid coming in, and the house circuits demand more than 3000w or 25 amps, would it go into bypass and supply that need from the grid? or would it trip the built in breaker? I guess I don't know which situations would trip the breaker and which would automatically flip the inverter to bypass.
