hi,
i never used bms yet but think about it.. if i hope to have the best cycling life, i should avoid both Max/Min voltages situation.. right??

reference BMS DALY Q&A:
Q: What is the balance function? Do we need cell balance or not?
A: The working principle and function are as followings:
When your one cell voltage was reached balance voltage(Li-ion 4.18V, LifePo4 3.6V), that cell balance start work, balance resistance starts discharge with 35mA, that cell was in both charging and discharging status, and other cells were not reached balance voltage(Li-ion 4.18V, Life Po43.6V), so they are only in charging status, when the fast cell voltage was reached overcharge voltage (Li-ion 4.25V, Life Po4 3.75V),BMS starts off power protection, all the cells are stop charging, this process will enable your battery charging in balance current, and your battery voltage are in balance status.
However, if your cell voltage difference are in a big range, The equilibrium effect is almost zero,The solution is to replace cells with large voltage gaps.

i have setted my PV controller (diy) for 16.4v max (4.1v/cell) with low voltage alarm to 12.4v (3.1v/cell) for my Li-ion 4s2p 100w pack and balanced at 16.4v.. but if i buy this kind of BMS which they will only balance when the voltage reach 4.18v x 4 = 16.72v, this thing will never balance my batteries pack in my case..

the idea of to extend the life cycles look great on paper but if the most of BMS work like this, it’s only usable when the controller is setted for the max voltage.. i have started little to learn and see what kind of problems may happen in the true life.. i check each week my cells pack and still with a delta of <5mV (so, look very stable)..

anyone here as me, want to avoid the min/max situations for a longer lifetime??
if yes and you have a bms with in mind of this thing will balance your cells,
can you set the balancing voltage or assume that will be done anyway???
note: if you need the web link reference (can i put a link here?), i will write it..

thanks and happy new year to all!!
