Bus bar insulators

With all that conductive metal I'm surprised we don't have plastic clip on insulators to cover the bus bars and terminals. In a marine application we have cables to connect the batteries and somewhat poor rubber insulator boots. In the battery bank world it would be so simple to have a plastic insulator to snap over the busbar and extend to cover both terminals.

They do make them, but they get a little pricey, so I made my own. They aren't "pretty" but they are functional and will be in a closed box all their life.

Once you put an insulator over the bars, you now have to reduce the current handling capability of the bars due to the insulation.

That's what wire ampacity is based on - size AND insulation rating.

I'm considering using snowmobile hyfax as an insulator. Just need to make the slot width a hair undersize.
