Today I'm upgrading an old setup installed by someone else (in the 1990's). I have a string a 3 x 355W panels replacing a string of 4 x 75W panels. My plan was to use the existing PV cable but noticed it's much larger than my 10Ga PV cable. There's also a blue cable in this conduit but seemingly unused because it is snipped and not connected to anything.
Here you can see the difference ins size vs my 10Ga PV cable. I can't get these existing wires into an MC4 connector so I'm looking for advice on how to make the connection to my 10Ga.
On another note, I I was short some PV cable and got some pieces of cable leftover from my neighbor's PV system but noticed the black wire doesn't look like copper. Should I avoid using it?
