I wonder if the outbreak is going to put a damper on imports from China. If it does, I might be in for a long wait to get my last order.

AFAIK, transport has only been prohibited in one province. China is very big so I'm guessing 99% of international trade will be unaffected. This is just a guess, I have no evidence to support this!

Definitely. Plus if my orders do arrive, I'll wipe them down with isopropyl alcohol. I don't know if that helps but I'll do it anyway.

Nobody knows how this will play out, but it does not look good right now. 35 million people are locked down in quarantine. Why would China lock down 35 million people if only 100 people died? Did you see the videos of people collapsing on the streets? China is all about making money, but something is causing them to lock down 35 million people and put the economy on hold, only something very bad would cause them to do that. asian people have no fear to be drunk in the street, so you can probably find tons of video of people falling in the streets.
it could be also because they worked too much, or anyhting else.
and let's put it straight. there is over 1'000'000'000 chinese people, so even if 1 million of them die , it is only 0.1% of the population.
And since the virus seems to be fatal only for about 5%, this means even if every chinese get the virus, it is less than 50 millions peoples.
The virus is fatal to old people or people with health condition, so the chinese country would get out of the problem with a younger, stronger population. That is not the case for others countries like in europe for example , where the ratio of old people is a lot higher.
And i cannot imagine the nightmare if the virus reach India. Here you would get easy 25% fatalities, that makes 250 millions death, and most US and european countries would see their economy halted instantly , because all backoffice is run by india.

I think specialist do not fear the virus by itself, but the fact that you can hold it uncover for two weeks, spread fast and above all they fear there would be a mutation that makes it a lot more dangerous.
Pretty sure all the military labs (USA= fort Detrick, Maryland) got a sample and working on it now.
