DC/AC Ratio

Hello Everyone,

What is DC/AC Ratio? Google answer was: "The ratio of how much DC capacity (the quantity and wattage of solar panels) is installed to the inverter's AC power rating is called the DC-to-AC ratio, or DC load ratio"

So is this ratio only the input PV capacity v/s output inverter capacity.... Does it have anything to do with Inverter performance?

i.e. The GroWatt Inverter says the DC/AC ratio is 2/1.... Does that means it will generate 1 KW AC for every 2 KW DC.... I may be completely wrong here but just wanted to clarify.

I had never even heard about this until now and I have two comments

1. This only applies to the AIO type inverter without battery bank.
2. We commonly over panel the MPPT to get every last drop of power in the day and put it into the batteries. Even with an AIO you can add a MPPT and panels and put more energy so the ratio is meaningless as a figure.
