I am still waiting for my solar to arrive and just ordered a 170AH 12 Power Block from Big Batteries. This stuff will be going in my Fifth wheel camper. I just remembered that my camper batteries charge from the alternator while towing. Since I don't want to deal with adding another component to do alternator charging for the Li batteries, should I just disable the alternator charging function? I could do this by disconnecting the appropriate wire in the wiring harness that ties the camper to the truck.

Is this truly necessary? Is there a better way?

Many people do that (disconnect charging wire from 7-way connector) once they have decent solar. However you need to be mindful about leaving enough juice in battery for breakaway brake and fridge

Thank you. I turn everything off when towing so only draw on the battery is the parasitic draw of detectors and radio.
