Do I need to change charger and MPPT float setting if BMS has overcharge cutout?

I know you do but don't really understand why.
I have been speaking to somone using drop in Lifepo4 saying they don't need to change settings because BMS cuts off charge at a set point and that makes sense but why then, is changing charge settings to get rid of float mentioned so often?

Without rehashing it, if there is a link (I could not find one) already discussing this please point me to it.
