diy solar

diy solar

finally bought solar

You're not in the US are you? That inverter says 230v AC, which often means a single phase 230v such as is used in other parts of the world, not 240v/split phase as we use here.

no im in croatia eu

So

This says 4/0 good to 325A for single core. Hopefully plenty for your stranded wire.

Maybe someone with expertise in this can chime in?
So i just found out this
There is a BMS on the battery but there is no communication protocol, so the BMS cannot be used
kind regards
Is this a problem...i have jk bms ordered

What battery?
Why do you suspect the BMS cannot be used?

Can the battery be opened so the BMS can be replaced?

Where in Croatia? Its a lovely country with very friendly people.

I got that response from seller...
What to do now...my inverter is in post office waiting to be picked up...what about rs485 protocol?

A city Slavonski Brod far cca 400km from the sea but beautiful country side

so i finally got the batterys...now my question is can i top balance with inverter in any way? i have no special charger to charge the battery except hybrid inverter

Is this a cell kit that you are putting together or is this a pre made battery if it’s a pre made just hook it up and set the aio settings for the batterys manufacturers recommendation

if you have problems with the charging the bms stops the charge drop the top voltage down some till that doesn’t happen and then slowly increase the voltage over time the battery will eventually balance out if it’s a good battery

The best you can do is charge it up as slow as possible so the cells absorb as evenly as possible. When your cell voltage start to diverge and one gets close to 3.65V, stop charging. You then discharge this higher voltage cell. You can leave it hooked up in series. Use an incandescent light bulb like 100W or larger. It will not light but should get warm and lower cell voltage eventually.

Then start charging battery until a cell gets to 3.65V and repeat discharge of that cell.

Keep doing this until all the cells are over 3.6V and cannot stand doing this anymore.

are you talking about charging in series with inverter or in parallel with different charger?

U can leave them in series and just bleed the higher cells down with the light bulb plus the bms will help balance over time also

So i make 8s battery connect bms and connect to hybrid Inverter and charge the battery normal?im new to all of this sorry for stupid questions but i just want to be shure

Yes you can do you have a dmm that you can check individual cells with to see how close they are you may want to hook them up in parallel for a day or 2 to let them all balance to each other then build the battery and start charging slowly and help balance with the light bulb

Ok thanks...i will do it like that slow charge than check which is faster in charging than discharge a little that cell and like that i circle

If your only charger is a 12V or 24V charger, then yes, in series.

The best option would be for a 3.65V bench top charger. I have a hobby battery charger that i use. If you know anybody with RC cars or drones, they probably have something that would work.

Bez problema :)

Btw, If you haven't already, it might be a great idea to watch videos on 'how to build a DIY LiFePo4 battery' on YT. There are a lot of great channels and videos on this topic. This should give you a good idea of how to go about this.

Here are a few, but there are plenty of such channels/videos on YT. Worth watching!

Also, in addition to using this forum, there are a lot of groups on FB related to DIY solar and/or batteries. There's also a Croatian one called 'Solarni klub' where you can find out a lot of information related to grid-tie, the law, and compliance with the electrical code in Croatia.

Personally, I do not have any experience with the grid-tie system, the Croatian solar group should be helpful on that part.

Yet, I would advise that before spending a lot of money on huge and very expensive cables and so on, you are absolutely certain how many batteries are you planning to invest in. Do you have any plans to ever upgrade the storage to a more significant capacity?

Take your time, and try not to rush things.
Ask questions, ask a lot of questions! Also, take your time to process all the information.

There are a lot of really great guys here on the forum willing to help out with these things.

Best,
D.
