I'm a complete newbie on this issue. I'm hooking up my tiny house. I am following the instructions for installing the MPP 24v 2.4kW PIP Model . It states I could get between 400 and 1800 w solar panels. I got 6 of the ones recommended in the parts listings which has the specs of:
Richsolar 6 Pieces 100 Watt Polycrystalline 100W 12V Solar Panel
Maximum Power: 100W
  • Maximum System Voltage: 1000V DC (UL)
  • Optimum Operating Voltage (Vmp): 17.8V
  • Open-Circuit Voltage (Voc): 21.2V
  • Optimum Operating Current (Imp): 5.62A
  • Short-Circuit Current (Isc): 6.02A
  • Weight: 16.5 lbs
  • Dimensions: 39.6 x 26.6x 1.4 inches
If I am understanding this correctly, if I connect these panels in series, the combined voltage will not be more than what the mpp can handle, correct? Being new to this, I'm just wanting some verification before I go forward.

Per mpp
"Max 145V Voc input and 30V-80V MPPT range"

Your panels state Open circuit of 21.2, so 21.2*6=127.2

127.2 is less than 145. You win.

Thanks, With this being my first install of solar, I'm being on a extreme cautious side. :)

I'm looking to add a wind turbine, we get quite a bit of wind here. The specs for this state
Rated Voltage : DC27-54V.
If I am understanding, this will take the voltage over the limit for the mpp? I will need to connect the solar panels a little differently to lower the volts, correct?
