Going off-grid questions

Is there a reason why you cannot irrigate during sunlight hours only?
One has to order water 24 hrs in advance, with approximate application time and amount (") and the water is allocated through the system (canals, ditches & pipelines). To understand this, it is relatively forgivable for one pivot in an irrigation district of say 300,000 acre, but if all 300,000 acres would irrigate without coordination hell would break loose. So, the well-being of the system is the consideration, not the benefit of the individual.

Thanks for all the good info.

One issue popped in my eye, the transmission is usage related and what I should try to do is lower the usage when I have to buy, take from the grid.

I have to think about that a little and for a while :fp2

How many gallons do you irrigate per hour? Can you build water storage tank and would it make financial sense to store water for daytime vs. rescheduling for daytime irrigation?
