Growatt SPH-5000 and Renogy Smart 48V 50ah - Will they communicate?

The SPH 5000 has RS485 and CAN both via RJ45. The Renogy smart 48v also has the same. From reading, some people have plugged and played various 3rd party batteries with success but others have struggled.

Will these two units communicate via RS485 or CAN?

I would like to know the answer to this as well.

I do know that Renogy does not play well with others.
Their Bluetooth protocol is proprietary even tho they know their app sucks ass. That tells me plenty.
My hope for this working is not there.
