Has Anyone Hacked A Battery Expansion Port?

I know many of these power stations that offer expansion batteries have a proprietary cable but I'm just curious if anyone has found a way to hook up a battery of the proper voltage/chemistry and use that expansion port?

Yes, I know you can use the solar input and either use the highest voltage possible or use a boost converter but I would imagine the battery expansion port would be more efficient and leave the solar input open.

Depends on the circuits behind the facia in the in unit you have. For example, I own a goal zero yeti. Has two expansion ports and one solar input. The solar input is protected by circuits to limit input. My two expansion ports are direct cables to battery so therefore must require a BMs of sorts either PWM or MPPT to use them to charge otherwise they are direct connected to another battery. System just sees a larger battery present
