LiFePo4 Rich Solar parameter setting advice

Hello,

I have a Rich Solar 40 Amp MPPT. I cut from their owners manual below. When using the Li battery settings, there are only 3 fields you can adjust. I am considering using "User" to have more control. The problem is, when I look at Will's sticky on LiFePo4 recommended settings I don't see how I should set many of these fields, and there is no "absorption" setting in the Rich Solar parameters so I don't know where to put Will's suggestion on that field.

Alternatively, I could use the SLA and just edit the parameters (they can all be user overridden using bluetooth).

I have a 200Ah Fortune 12V Battery with 2 overkill solar BMS's.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Jeff

Sorry to open up an old thread like salting a wound... :)

The aforementioned Sticky Post from Will states:

12V 4S LiFePO4 Battery w/ BMS:
  • Absorption: 14.5V
  • Float: 13.6V
  • Inverter Cut-off: 10.7V-12V (depending on size of load and voltage drop etc)

I've got a Rich Solar 30A PWM Surface Mount Controller, SKU RS-PWM30, mostly because of cost, size, and that Will did a video that showed roughly the same charging capacity as an MPPT. The specs are just like the two charts above.

What wasn't finally answered in this thread was this: What settings did the OP end up using?

I've got a Battery Hookup 12v LiFePo4 kit, so 4 x "cells" at 3.65V charged, 2.5V discharged, or 14.6V Charged and 10V discharged.

I'm going to set mine to Sealed.
  • Battery Type: Sealed
    • Equalizing Voltage: 14.6V
    • Boost Voltage: 14.4V
  • Battery Type: Flooded
    • Equalizing Voltage: 14.8V
    • Boost Voltage: 14.6V
  • All Types
    • Float: 13.8V
    • Low Voltage Reconnect: 12.6V
    • Low Voltage Disconnect: 11.1V
There doesn't seem to be a user setting on this controller. Totally fine, I just won't get the last few percent out of my battery pack.

Is there a benefit (or harm) to setting it to Battery Type: Flooded? The Boost (same as Absorption or Bulk) Voltage is right between the recommended value of 14.5V. It seems to me for Battery Longevity, set it to Sealed, max capacity, set it to Flooded. Maybe it won't make that big of a difference.

Advice and share knowledge, please!
