Hello All, I am just getting started so I have the first question. The 5048 Charge controller/inverter has a limit of 145 VOC input to either of the two controllers. I would like to attach 6 X 400 watt panels in a 3S 2P , which would give 149.9 VOC at the solar panel output. The manufacturer says no way, 2 panels in series max. So my question is there a way to adjust the voltage down a bit before going into the MPP Solar 5048?

No. Go 2S3P. You also want to allow for voltage spikes due to cold weather.

The MPP 5048 only has 2 solar inputs, so 3 in P wouldn't work would it? I was thinking of attaching a voltage regulator, have no idea if that would work or harm the panels in any way. Looks like I'll need one extra charge controller for the 3rd P leg. Thanks!

Why won't it work? You'll only be using one of the inputs. You will have a single 2S3P array that is connected to one of the charge controllers.
