This project was a ton of fun and my first real dive into solar. I have a 25w QYT KT8900D for emergency comms purposes that I wanted the ability to quickly take anywhere. The added goal was to have both 12v and 120v power available as a solar generator for camping and grid-down situations. I wanted the ability to keep devices charged anywhere without needing a loud generator. here's the details...

it's all stuffed into a "50 caliber" Plano plastic ammo can! I love it! It's super light at ~25lbs total! total build was right around $500 with the Rockpals 100w briefcase panel.

Plano rustrictor ammo can. Highly recommend this one as the lid and latch are very solid and it comes with a rubber gasket to seal to the base.

what's inside:
QYT 8900D 25w radio
non-sine 400w inverter mechanically switched through a 30amp 12v breaker
Weize 18ah lifepo4 battery
Renogy 10amp wanderer PWM controller

Connections:
12v marine grade socket with USB 2amp 5v charger
LED light
antenna port for the radio
Andersen connector for solar input

The idle consumption on the Renogy PWM controller is pretty high so I'm considering upgrading at some point. but it works fine.

Nice build!
Gotta love those plastic "ammo" boxes!
Here's mine:

Mine is a portable Solar 12v power supply.
It houses:
- 18Ah Lifepo4 12v battery
- Win500 20A MPPT SCC with Bluetooth.
- JUNTEK Shunt with wireless display (display out of the box)
- Fuse box
- Circuit breaker

I'm currently improving it, adding 12v socket, and USB.
Also changing the XT60 output lead to a panel mount XT60.

This was done before I learned to DIY Lifepo4 battery packs.
In hindsight, I would probably do a DIY battery with JBD BMS with Bluetooth.
This would make the shunt irrelevant.

Very cool builds!

The use of the ammo can is a nice touch. Portable, protects the gear from bumps, and water tight.
