Simple question (I hope):

I have a 190AH 12V LIFEPO4 with a BMS rated 60AMP discharge and 30Amp charge. It is connected to a new 12 volt 2500watt pure SINE inverter (peaks at 5000). Between the two devices I am running the same gauge wire as the BMS Negative wire. The Plus connects to a 40Amp breaker which feeds the inverter - it is a marine grade 40amp resettable breaker and it is popping when I run a small 1500 watt window air conditioner. Should the breaker be 60AMP in this situation?

Thanks!

There is an extream miss-match of components in the system.

A 2500W 90% efficient 12V inverter can draw (2500/.9)/12V = 231.5A.
Even if there is only a 1500W load on the system it will be (1500/.9)/12=139A.

The BMS is too small for the inverter or the load.

Thanks Filter - based on your recommendations I found the tutorial and see what I am doing wrong here. Will reswizzle it.

If your BMS can only provide 60 amps at 12 volts, it’s suitable for at most, a 750 watt inverter.
