New home installation, placement questions

Hi all,

I've been reading up using some of the beginner resources, thanks for those.

I am settling on a 5Kw battery system without any feedin to the grid.

We live in a house built far away from a power supply! So our current supply comes from a pole in the next farm. There is a meter there then a 800m or so length of SWA bringing the power to a regulator by the house then on to the main consumer unit in the house. Not very efficient!

I have 2 choices for siting the panels. I could put them on a large garage roof that is close to the house (harder, and more expensive and less clear sky above it) or I could put them in a field that has no shade but then I would be teeing into the long 800m cable about 350 meters from the house.

I am assuming it's better to have them closer to the house even if they get a little less sun?

Secondly if there is a appreciable distance between the installation and the CU (would still be 30 meters or so from the garage) where is it best to put the convertor, battery etc relative to each other the panels and the CU?

Thanks for any advice.
