Hi, I'm new to solar, though I've probably put in around one hundred hours research online in the past month. Of course, the more I learn, the more I realize there's more to learn. Anyway, I want to power a small off-grid home in the high jungle of northern Peru. 6 degrees from the equator at 3000ft elevation. Anyone know how the solar gain compares in this location on a cloudy day. I'm assuming it's still a pretty significant gain even through the clouds.
I have a small spring, with a decent fall in elevation from its origin. However, I'm not sure it provides enough flow to power a micro hydroelectric system.
Therefore I'm still interested in solar. It's hard to get things imported here, but I did find one company in Peru that seems reliable and offers some pretty solid brands like victron at reasonable prices. For example the MPPT I'll link to would cost me about $40 more off Amazon after international shipping and clearing customs, so it's probably just best to go with the local vendor down here.
My usage is roughly 10kwh per day.
(10.77kwh on a peak day using every single appliance including ALL the cooking appliances)
(9.77kwh per day is a more reasonable expectation on any given day)
Here's what I'm thinking:
Victron MPPT 150/85 Charge Controller

Maybe this is overkill and I’d be better served with this Growatt alternative?

Is this a decent setup? What would you do differently?
