Kaowool would fit the bill and be able to withstand the high temps of the kiln. Asbestos works even better but has been so demonized that one cant even mention the natural product without people just going stupidly insane with fear.... The problem being covering a kiln and then removing a kaowool "blanket" sends millions of crystalline sharp stabby pokey kaolinite/mullite crystals in the air. Not good for the ol' lungs.
