12-volt solar panel: a 20+volt solar panel

24-volt solar panel: a 40+volt solar panel

amorphous silicon (cell, module, panel, etc.): an ancient and obsolete silicon-wasting PV technology

APPA: Arcane Positive Power Association: group which oversees the activities of licensed Positive Electromagicians

boost(1): step-up converter
boost(2): one of an infinite series of battery charging phases applicable to ancient battery chemistries that are known to the state of California to cause birth defects

CIGS (cell, module, panel, etc.): PV module technology that can be rolled up into a cylinder and smoked with a semiautomatic pistol and will continue to function regardless

Electromagician: a practitioner of one of three known schools (Neutral, Positive, Negative) of electrical magic

Electromagician, Negative: an electrical magician who studies the warnings of the NECA; so-named for the twin qualities of undying pessimism regarding the potential for their own electrocution from any given electrical system or device, and for being at a lower electrical potential at all times relative to every other object in the universe

Electromagician, Neutral: an electrical magician who follows the precepts and requirements of the NEC; so-named for the twin qualities of remaining neutral in any conceptual area in which electrical theory crosses into religious debate, and for being at zero electrical potential at all times relative to every other object in the universe

Electromagician, Positive: an electrical magician who follows the precepts and requirements of the APPA; so-named for the twin qualities of undying optimism regarding the beneficial applications of electrical power, and for being at a higher electrical potential at all times relative to every other object in the universe

EMP(1): an Electro-Magnetic Pulse
EMP(2): (also "emp") a small demon who possesses certain electrically-minded persons causing paranoia and obsession over protecting their electrical systems from World War Three and/or supernovae

IEEE: Institute of Electromagical and Electrocution Engineers: an organization founded to advance the science of electrical-based offensive weapons systems

inverter(1): a device for creating Alternating Current electricity from Direct Current electricity
inverter(2): an inverter(1) plus any combination of the following: AC-powered battery charger, DC-powered battery charger, PV combiner box, solar charge controller(s), automatic transfer switch, dynamic neutral-to-ground bond, overcurrent protection device(s), smart-home hub, AI girlfriend

modified sine wave(1): square 'wave': Alternating Current scheme in which the magnitude switches from 1 to -1 discontinuously and instantly; designed to destroy AC motors and digital electronics
modified sine wave(2): (more properly modified square 'wave') an unholy Alternating Current scheme in which there are three discreet values (1, 0, -1) instead of two; designed to create a false sense of security in the user while degrading AC motors and digital electronics

monocrystaline (cell, module, panel, etc.): photovoltaic quintessence; silicon perfected. Raised to divine status with the development of bifacial panels

MPPT (charge controller)(1): a Maximum Power Point Tracking solar charge controller
MPPT (charge controller)(2): a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) solar charge controller with delusions of grandeur

NEC: Neutral Electromagician's Codex: a compendium of theory, precepts, rituals, spells, incantations, wardings, etc, formulated to increase the safety of any electrical system or device. Known regionally as 'The Regs' in the UK, 'The Wiring Rules' in the Down-Under-Lands, etc

NECA: Negative Electromagician's Compendium of Annihilations: comprehensive listing of all known ways of perishing from contact with electricity, maintained as an educational and warning document to all current and prospective Negative Electromagicians

neutral-to-ground bonding: esoteric ritual performed by Fifth-Order Electomagicians in order to make any electrical system either totally safe or instantly fatal as per the Electromagician's wishes

polycrystaline (cell, module, panel, etc.): barely-functional silicon PV technology made from the the industrial waste byproducts of monocrystaline PV production; suitable only for sale in developing countries

pure sine wave: the unadulterated form of Alternating Current that Prometheus carried down from Olympus for the benefit of all humankind

PWM (charge controller)(1): a Pulse Width Modulation solar charge controller
PWM (charge controller)(2): e-waste

Rapid Shutdown: activation of an electrical nullification ward which was previously placed (though not activated) by a Fifth-Order Neutral Electromagician; deployable within 10 to 30 seconds depending on requirements

Sol-Ark: a Texas-based inverter(2) assembler/importer whose products are aimed at purchasers of non-DIY, grid-tied, debt-laden, fly-by-night-borderline-bankrupt-installer-thrown-together, roof-mounted solar PV systems

solar tracking system: obsolete PV-mounting technology necessary to harvesting even the most meager stream of power from equally obsolete amorphous and/or polycrystaline silicon solar cells

split-phase (alternating current): (also single-phase three-wire) an alternating current power delivery scheme in which the number of phases is continuously variable, bounded by the integer values 1 and 2, probabilistically approximated by the Schrödinger equation, but can only be determined at any given instant via direct observation

two-phase (alternating current)(1): single split-phase alternating current
two-phase (alternating current)(2): obsolete AC power delivery scheme, designed prior to knowledge of how to make AC motors work properly, in which two sine waves are offset by 90-degrees

UL: Undertakers' Laboratory: a product testing organization that ensures products meet their intended electrocution & lethality specifications

Victron Energy: a European-designed PV ecosystem for consumers with finite knowledge and infinite monetary resources

Electrickery: the observable shenanigans perpetuated by the forces of electro-magnetism on electrons, especially within conductive metals such as copper, aluminum, iron and nickel based metal alloys, and often silicon based gizmos sold to control and manipulate these shenanigans.
