This is a good reason to buy quality cells. The argument about redundancy is important, but I don’t know how much you lose maintenance wise with a 2p4s over the years.
This is a common upgrade question, including for me. The other option I’ve considered is a 24v battery which would avoid the cost of a second charge controller for an also expanded solar array. The question I have in that regard is how do you get 12v power out of a 24v battery?
