So my question is sort of the title. I have a sprinter van, and i unwisely put the electrical center in the back corner. So my DC-DC charging cables have a Long way to go. Now, from what i have read and think I understand, there is some reason one cannot just hook the battery negative to the van ground. So really two questions: What gauge is appropriate for a long run like that (I’m hoping it isn’t 2 or larger), and does the Renogy DC-DC MMPT work with just a chassis ground?

Assuming 12V and 50A DC-DC. 2awg just barely cuts it.
