This constant and over-the-top schilling for a single company's overpriced products has become both annoying and even disturbing. Why would anyone trust advice from any source that only recommends products from a single company?. It makes one appear to be a dishonest crook. However good the...
Yes, I am using LiFePo4 batteries, SOK 100aH and a Rebel 50aH, for separate applications. Here are my user settings so far. Note: screenshot is from the bluetooth app for the HQST 40A charge controller.
That is a common stereotype of firearms enthusiasts used by the leftist anti-gun crowd. Those that actually know anything about firearms don't read guns and ammo. You might see a copy of Handloader or Rifle. As far as the .243 Winchester, it's fine for deer and varmints, (with the right bullets)...
Yes, all is fair in love, war, and business. There is far more of this going on than you would expect. Especially between Chinese companies, but also the US. Companies pay people to post disparaging reviews and comments on forums just like this one. It's almost impossible to stop when so much...
Okie-dokie, Standard thermal mass for hypothetical fridge test is 2 gallon jugs of water, frozen. Seems it is agreed that follows real life usage.
You can kind of cheat with portable DC fridges, though. Because most DC fridges can freeze as well, I have found in my testing that if I set the...
Thanks, but alas, none of them seem to mention the HQST 40 amp solar charge controller in question. The first thing I did was to perform a cursory search. Perhaps have a glance at the original link to the product I provided? Eh? Many non-snarky thanks in advance.
This is practical thinking. I do both, as fits the use case. ecoflow and bluetti have come up with some nice hardware, and good control apps. It's really hard to beat a tightly integrated and well functioning system used where it fits the bill. When you add up the warranty, 1 app control, good...
It actually was Will's latest video that inspired my post. Hey, I know it's his business, and I like and support non-china stuff, but things are a little over the top around here, sometimes. It's becoming annoying.
The DIY numbers don't add up anymore, at least for a smaller, generic installation. I'll give an example.
Bluetti AC200L - $1300 (I purchased one recently at that price)
2048 watt hour battery.
2400 watts continuous inverter
1200 watts max mppt controller PV input @ 145 volts max
bluetooth +...
A YJ? really?
My first conveyance was a 1953 CJ-3B. 4cyl. (which I drove in an off-road race at age 18) I have owned a 1949 willys, wagon with a Ford V8 I shoehorned in W/advanced adaptors. A 1972 CJ-5, a 1974 CJ-5, a 2001 TJ, Various XJ's old gladiator's, etc.
I also owned Many other brands...
Interesting. Jeeps are a premium priced conveyance. Some will say they are vastly over priced. Why buy a jeep when there are other, lower priced alternatives?
Most of the RV'ers and Jeep folks I know vastly prefer Honda's over the China stuff. Honda's have always been the most reliable of all...
Bravo, Rednecktek! While the victron products I own are of good quality, I despise being locked into any one "ecosystem", hardware or software. Any technology. Sometime this forum seems like an endless comercial for victron. It sometimes seems a little over the top. Just my humble opinion.
Maybe just buy an efficient 12v compressor cooler fridge? a tiny power station or battery and a 100 watt panel will run them almost forever. No need to complicate things. Simple problem. This is what one of mine consumes in 24 hours. Easy peasey.
No reason to be so aggressive, Chummily. I clearly stated that they were compressor cooler fridges. Since you seem to own one, you already know how efficient they are. So why demand information when you already know the approximate answer? My post was about the EB70. What is your experience with...
I would think those victronRewards already existed , judging by the level of fan boyzs around here. My victron products are good, but they don't send a thrill up my leg or anything. :ROFLMAO:
Sounds like a winner to me. A standard thermal mass. But why the room temperature water? If we are going that route, should we then start the test with the fridge at room temperature?
I wonder where the Cheap 120vac fridges are made, and exactly how easy they are to repair? If they have a short life span, isn't the argument kinda moot? Has anyone here ever actually taken a fridge in for repair?
I actually did once, I had a early 1950's coke machine that no longer chilled...
I have a couple of small compressor fridge cooler's that I use for camping. They are both extremely efficient, if a little small for the OP's purposes.
The smaller of the two pulls 20-35 watts when running. When set to maintain <38 degrees, the 24 hour power draw is 135Wh. A 100 watt panel and...
I have been looking at this on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/HQST-Controller-Negative-Bluetooth-Regulator/dp/B09J16G1LV
Seems like it could be a good deal for a cheap MPPT controller? Anybody know anything about it?
It's like $99, and has bluetooth.
Is this Junk?
Looks like a great deal, even though they are $299. But they are in Australia? I can't imagine what the shipping would be to the US. Can you get the 120 volt version from them?
Well, we are just going to have to disagree here. I have done both, I have both. For smaller systems, portable power stations are actually cheaper now than DiY. Things have changed quite a bit in the last year, even. I encourage you to do a little research, you might be surprised. The OP stated...
by miss-matched on the panels, do you mean a large difference in voc? I am hoping to link a 200watt foldable and a 100 watt foldable in series. Bad idea? lets the magic smoke out? Battery overvoltage does not sound good at all. I hope I don't experience that.
Which fridge? The bougerv 26 quart, or the ICECO JP42? Look, it's a LifePO4 battery. The usable capacity is like ~680Wh. With solar, they both will run forever. Without charging, the JP42 ~ 3 days, the bougeRV, like 4 1/2 days. Camping. Summer. 80's.

"production facilities are located in Slovakia and China. They all follow the same manufacturing practices and approved quality management systems."
You are only partially correct. Still german r&d and design.
Thank you for the information. I have read several of your posts bemoaning the excessive power draw of absorption fridges. I was just curious about your experience with same. Sorry to be off topic.
Although our taxes are ugly here in Nebraska, on my property near the platte river, 25ft with a sandpoint will get you a usable well. Heck, 10 feet would almost. In the river bottom area, every 20 years or so we get some kind of a flood, it's just part of life here. Almost zero crime, though...
I had one of those units in an Aliner A-frame camper I had. It was worthless for cooling. It simply didn't work. I tried everything, changed the vents, added hose for additional vent's etc. In a word, these suck!
I have a small travel trailer. I diy'ed a small system to power the basic needs for the camper - water pump, propane furnace, fans, etc. 2 100 watt panels on the roof, 200ah lifpo4 house battery, 1000 watt inverter, 20amp mppt charge controller. I have a small inverter generator for emergencies...
Here's how I test my fridges.
First, I record the air temperature (indoors or outdoors)
Next, using a fridge thermometer, I note the fridge temp/settings.
For power measurement, I use a Kill-a-watt for AC, and a DC power meter/data logger for DC.
I record the the start time, and begin, I want...
I used to work for a large, national trucking company. We were forbidden to use the word refer. Lol. I think it's spelled reafer, anyways. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to do that swap, sounds interesting.
